[Mk2] [Turbo] 3bar map sensor flat lines at 1.2bar

Post by cantfindausername »

Was chatting with my Tuner on monday and he mentioned that the map sensor is flat lining at 1.2bar and throwing errors at anything over this.

Does this sound like a duff map sensor? Its a Magneti Marelli (not a copy) 3bar map sensor.

Anyone seen anything like this before?

Thanks,
Ant

After speaking to the supplier and getting the "it could take weeks for the manufacturer to test it" line I've biten the bullet and bought another one.

Just a guess but sounds more like the thing reading the sensor is having a problem. When he says 'throws errors' what exactly? Is the ecu or whatever configured to read the sensor correctly?

Unless you've got a 1 bar map sensor by mistake?

I'm confident it will all be configured properly. There is a 1 bar sensor going on there as well for barometric correction, but I can't see that he'd get the 2 mixed up  :-k

A 3 bar map sensor should max out at 2 bar of boost pressue. Your sensor maxing out at 1.2 sounds suspiciously like there might be a fuel cut defender installed somewhere in your wiring loom? Is that a possibility?

Its unlikely Patrick. The loom has been stripped and reassembled to plug into the new ECU. All of the redundant controls have been removed from the existing loom. Will find out for certain when the new sensor turns up. Hoping that will solve the problem.

Also, ts not maxing out but "Flat Lining" to use his words. By this I'm guessing the signal dies. :?

Bought a new one as SCI Performance said it would have to go back to Magneti Marelli for testing which could take weeks to turn around. Will send it back if this new one proves to be a good one. Otherwise its something else. :-k

Hoping to be back on the rollers today.
