MR2 Rev 4 Turbo v 300bhp 350z

Post by Turbo97 »

Had a wee search but couldnt find anything.

My pal has just bought the 300bhp 350z.....he is harpin on about how it will wipe the floor with my rev4 turbo, basically..i think otherwise :D

His is just standard, mines has departure II exhuast, greddy emanage, HKS filter, and blitz BOV...not much but she is running sweet and managed a 13.5s 1/4 mile in her.

So what do you guys think i'd imagine it would be quite tight, the 300bhp Z is 0-60 in 5.5 isnt it?

What sort of 1/4's do they run, where will i have the edge? just to 60 or all through the range?

would love to know, to give me some confidence haha

Let me know your thoughts and even better your stories (obviously there arent many 300bhp Z's out there)

Cheers

ive had a few goes with a mates 350z 276bhp model against my rev3 and it was pretty even, the 350's are mega heavy cars but they got loads of torque, the turbo punch is sorely missing from the 350 but they are a great car. I'd have one deffo, (drop in a 3sgte maybe lol)

Yeh i reckon power to weight ratio would be relatively similar would it?

I'm a little nervous now  but i cant see the 300bhp 350z running 13.5's on a quarter...surely? :S

bit nervous now haha!

It's probably gonna be down to your start and gear changes, although if you're running more than standard boost I don't think you'd have too much trouble getting slightly ahead... factory 0-60 times have the MR2 out front too as a rev 4...

It will be pretty close mate, my mate has the 276bhp one and they are pretty quick.

Get an intercooler on yours mate and wake the boost up to 1.2 bar and you will kill it 8)

aye intercooler and 1.2 bar areon the way...just trying to find an intercooler to go for at the moment, cos the current BERK is out of production just now and they are producing a new version just now.

BERK downpipe to go on also, so should be pushing anything between 300-330bhp, then i dont think it would even be a contest!

Olly, what power you pushing out just now?

Should be a close one, dont know what 1/4's the 350z 296bhp Z's do :-s

Friend of mine has a G35 infiniti Skyline which is a 4 seater 350Z and we had a little play, now my car is standard to my knowledge and he never got away from me,although he reckons he had some left  .

Heavy car though, would slaughter it through the bends, roll on track day.

marf hard to tell with that link, cos none of them actually state what model of Z they have! there is a fair difference between bottom of the range and top....so i guess we will just have to wait n see

Berk intercooler possibly sortd so wont be long before the boost is upped!

Now to find a decent boost controller! All the AVCR's are so expensive :(

I’ve been on a track the same time as one before, it was no competition. I caught up to it no problem. That’s on a track i have no idea how a ¼ mile would do.

I suppose there are lots of factors to go by so i dont know how helpful this is.
