What version of Studio are you using Ben? I've had problems with it in the past (both encoding analogue video from a Pinnacle DC10+ capture card, and from saving shows from my hard disk set top box to DivX).

Version 7 sucked badly, especially on SMP system... V8 seems marginally better. I haven't tried V9 yet. I normally just use it to grab the footage and then use a combination of tmpgenc or virtualdub to render it.

LoL! Its something I do without thinking now. Probably as the seat on the MK1 has given up all pretense of the bolstering holding you in place when it is cornering at decent speed (it is 21 years old after all!)

Although in my defense, I do opposite lock out of Abbotts 'properly'(-ish) just to show I can do it if needed ;)

GLOL! ;)

Yep i noticed that bit when you did it out of abbotts.. Though you should see the state of my seat... ie use your legs to brace yourself (left leg is a must against handbrake).

Si was very good with his steering. :thumright:

I feel like i'm the quarter to three brigade or something. :P

OK, the DVD is done :D

It took from 6.30pm through to midnight last ngiht to encode and burn to disk - just been checking it and it plays OK :)

There's 11 'sessions' encoded onto the DVD in two top level menus - the first few are me driving on Saturday, then Simon - flip over to the second menu and there are sessions with Anna, Alex and Tom, as well as a full quality version of the clip that I encoded.

There's just over 2 hours of video - in order to get it all on the DVD I've had to encode the audio as MPEG rather than PCM. It should play fine on modern DVD players as it is part of the DVD standard, but really old payers (older than 4-5 years) may have problems both with the DVD-R media or MPEG encoding of audio.

If you want one, paypal me a couple of quid to [email protected] to cover the disk, case, cover and postage and email me your address :)

Anna - yep, no problem. That way you'll have the original tape with the footage of the sessions you did, plus one from Tom.

Now I've got the DVD sorted, I'll delete the raw footage on my PC to get some disk space back and make way for other projects :)

Bracing is not a problem - I hardly fit in behind the wheel when I'm wearing a lid (!) so I have to go for the Max Power seating position - seat all the way back, all the way down - I don't do the right hand on top of the wheel thing though, you've got to draw the line somewhere ;)

Probably would be better with a bucket seat though - but it defeats the object of the car - its a cheap, fun, trackday toy I'm doing minimal mods to and running on a tight budget.

Si was very good with his steering. :thumright:

Ah, he just needs to be led to the dark side of opposite-lock goonage and wheel shuffling :P

"Do what i say, not what I do" ;) Actually i found that my car felt much better when i did a few quick laps, ie racing lines, no gooning etc, as the car started to want to goon as the tyres warmed. It hustled round angersea surprisingly well.

News on the DVD - thanks to all who sent money via PayPal.

Good news is that I got some time to duplicate them all last night and produce a sleeve for the cover.

They've just gone into the post, 1st Class delivery - you should all have them tomorrow :)
