[Mk2] [Turbo] Valet mode.- help!

Post by rossonza »

Trying to unlock my boot I've managed to turn it anti clock wise and it's now in valet mode (which I didn't know existed until I googled my issue).

I saw a member posted there's a way to get in without drilling/damaging parts. Anyone have a clue?

Cheers
Ross.

Try lubricating the lock. I used some of this - https://www.wd40specialist.com/products/dry-lube/

Spray inside the lock, and on the key - insert and remove the key several times to help the lubricant penetrate. Keep wiggling the key and it should eventually unlock.

Before you do that, make sure you're using the right key. There is a master key and a valet key. Valet key cannot unlock it by design.

Yeah, that should be the one. Sometimes when the keys are worn it can be difficult to engage and disengage the valet mode.

Sometimes they just get a bit stuck because they haven't been used in several years.

Ok that's a good start then. Previous owner wasn't aware of valet mode either. I'll keep wiggling :thumleft:

I'm in. Turns out the rev 3 rear panel wasn't sitting in far enough for the key to work fully. I filed.down the plastic on the key and hey presto it opened. I think I'm going to remove the catch that works the valet.
