[Mk2] [Generic] Boost issues.

Post by BALDYMONSTER »

For some reason the boost controller is now needing a lot more dialled in to get me the same amount of boost.

Boost controller is a Blitz Dual Solenoid number.

Rev 3 turbo conversion.

Usually around 50-54% in warmish weather gets me the desired 15.5 psi but now I'm having to dial in 85% odds to get the same pressure.

Weather is slightly colder by a few degrees but really?

Boost controller hoses to and from controller to turbo/actuator are fine, nothing seems to be loose or split. No smoke at any point or time or knocking/rattles.

Any ideas.

boost leak

If its colder then you should need less boost for same power

I know mate, that's why I'm so surprised as it's not had a really sudden drop in temperature here in Scotland.

Certainly not enough to require that percentage dialled in to the EBC to make the same level of boost.

Do you think that that maybe what set off the knock sensor?

I do yes, I've got an Omori fitted where the voltmeter used to be and they both say the same all the time.

Boost leaks, vacuum leaks, dead / failing solenoid.

Meant to say. I put redex fuel system additive in it with my usual V Power about 5 days ago and have been running it with as little boost as possible since. The knock sensor light hasn't come on again when before hand it did regardless of boost or how I drove it.
