Rev5 red stitch gearknob

Post by juliankv73 »

Hi guys

Any one know the part number please for a rev5 red stitch gearknob?

I only have a trd ball type gearknob

My local MrT is being a pita re: part no's and their database lol

Are there any dealers offering discounts for us and does anyone know how much these are new?

Cheers Julian

A bloke at work bought a brand new one from Mr T last year, and I seem to recall him paying about £70 for it
I'll see if he kept the paperwork for it.

Current price is £96.50 plus VAT.

Considering it's a dealer part, that is not a bad price.

Yeah, good price for a new rev5 gearknob! Thought it'd be twice that.

I have one sitting in my glove box. I'd sell it but I quite like the idea of having all the original parts if I ever wanted to sell the car.

TBH I'd be tempted to get a standard rev4 one and sending it to Rhon to have all the stitching re-done with red. It will look no different and cost a fraction of the price :thumleft:

Doesn't have the embossed shift pattern on though.

For probably the better part of £70 difference I would go without the embossing

On a side note - the Celice VVTi ones have the same shape and embossing as the rev5 MR2 ones, and don't carry the same price tag. Maybe buy one of those and have it re-stitched for the red stitching :-k

Down to individual preference I guess, me personally, I'd go oem if I was after a rev5 gearknob. Only reason I haven't is because I have a fairly mint rev3 stock gearknob.

Still time yet though, I may well get a brand new rev5 knob.

I sold a used rev5 gearknob for £20 ](*,)
Ended up paying £40 for a TRD ball type one to replace it.

The Celica is a 6 speed.
Good luck trying to chuck the MR2 into what you think will be 6th at 70mph without realising it's actually reverse

Jules,

Is your TRD gearknob a resin one or is it leather covered?

The only reason I ask is that I'm doing a TRD conversion and I may be up for a swap with my Rev5 one.

Where is the best place to buy Toyota parts?

My local Toyota is charging £175 for one ha ha

On Ebay it varies between £99- 150.

Where's the best place to buy MrT stuff nowadays?

£81 if you don't get hit with VAT on import, £97 if you do:

https://www.amayama.com/en/part/toyota/3350420140c1

RHDJapan base price is a little less: https://www.rhdjapan.com/oem-public-pag ... 4-20140-C1

Not sure what the shipping will be from them.

Thats if it's not a discontinued part, I've had xxxx luck with amayama. I really wish they'd check the stock before you buy something from them.
