So

I got my list above completed.

My friend Ian welded the iat bung into the intercooler pipework
Image

Anyways. I took the car out driving/tuning. All was going well. Then all of a sudden it started leaning out badly on the wideband. We added more fuel on megasquirt and it just kept leaning out. Tried to drive home and it kept cutting out. We figured fuel starvation.

I ran the pump into a bottle to check fuel condition (not great)
Image

I did a few checks and it was coming out the tank crap. It wasn't a bad filter or anything so ordered all new hose/connector's and a filter
Image

Pulled the tank for the 4th time this year.
Image

Got the pump out and could see it had crap in the sock
Image

Opened the tank up to look inside after draining it. (Not good)
Image
Image

So I bought the Frost por15 tank sealer kit which involved 8 ish hours or cleaning/prepping the tank
Image
Image

This is the tank sealed. No more rust. No more flakes floating around.
Image

I'm reinstalling Saturday/Sunday. So fingers crossed my fueling issues resolved.

Whilst waiting the 96 hours for the tank sealer to dry I decided to paint the newly welded intercooler pipework.

Wish me luck for the weekend please :thumleft:

No real updates. I've done some more road tuning.

Ran a log and found the other day 30c ambient my iats were high.

1st gear hit 50c
2nd gear hir 60c
3rd gear hit 70c

Image

I'm currently running open pipe off the turbo inlet so I'm getting bay air into the compressor side. Got to order some alloy pipework and a cone filter to install and get some cold air from the side vent.

Also I'm enabling 2 step later. Hopefully get some videos up.

Also.... I'm getting engine rock when shifting gears hard. So ordered some poly engine mounts from BRD. Should arrive next week. :thumleft:

I also had to rebuild a front caliper. Got a big red kit and she's all sorted.

Those temps are quite high. I'm running my turbo just open as well and mine are nowhere near that. What's your coolant temps?

I know man. Sounds Great when the gate opens into the screamer.

Had a little drive last night. You can see the flame and hear the loud bang from my 2 at the top of 2nd.

My powersteering light came on though. Balls... Hoping it's a stuck relay.

Also.... Fitted a clutch switch for my 2 step/flat foot shifting setup. Just wired up megasquirt today for it. Yet to test. Will get a video when I do.

Well my cam cover leaked oil into my alternator which then in turn broke that.

I replaced the cam cover seal and used new cam cover bolts with rubber washers. This now seems to be holding oil.

I replaced the alternator today:

And thank god it's charging great now. So I'm happy.

I then got asked to look at a high priority job (the Mrs hair straighteners)
Image
One resistor later and brownie points earned I was back working on the car.

Thanks to race idiot my new turbos arrived

:thumleft: can't wait to get it installed.

Brownie points have worked out well. The Mrs has offered to follow me to the garage tomorrow to get the mr2s tyres changed and a long overdue alignment done

Yes car will be ran over winter. but it's a dry weather/weekend car. I've got a daily. So unless it's a perfect day it won't be seeing the road.

Turbo not going on until Ive got the rest of my forged bits delivered. Then I need to make a plan to pull the engine and forge it... I'm really waitng to move house to somewhere with a garage. So fingers crossed that happens Christmas ish time so she can be forged just in time for summer. :thumleft:

best advice i can give about forging bud is to get a different block. It takes forever and time is always gonna be added and added to the build. Blocks are peanuts too and you can use NA or Turbo. I believe the rev5 NA is actually meant to be the block to go for. build the engine off the car then swap it in. If I was gonna do it again i'd do it that way.

3sge is the same block but you need to make an oil return for the turbo I believe which involves drilling the block but yeah it can deffo be used. There was a rev 5 one on here for sale recently for next to nothing, I think it was Adroooooo selling it. I have ihim on faceache, I'll PM him for you.

EDIT: Speaking to him now he says the blocks are gone. Rev5 NA is what you want.

:thumleft: presume this avoids bad casting issues of earlier blocks?

apparently so, Andy says a guy he knows tested the metal and it is even a different composition to the earlier ones. I've linked him to this thread so hopefully he can chime in as he's way more knowledgeable than I am about it.
