Nice V6. Whereabouts in Cornwall are you? It would be nice to see a v6 conversion in the flesh someday.

Nice work. My red MK2 has had similar work on the driver side rear arch. Fair play on putting the effort in saving the car.

i just used the belt off of the 3s ge engine i nicked the alternator from. and changing the alternator, by the way, is p1$$ easy with the crossmember and rhs suspension removed, which was nice

after working 3 16 hour shifts on the trot this week i had a early day today, so being too tired to be ar$ed to crawl around under the rusty one i decided to do the resistor mod to make my v6 ecu a manual one. this will stop it stalling when approaching the lights.

that went well, methinks

well that went well. was on my way to padstow (25mins away) and i happened to look in rear view to see lots of blue smoke. mostly on the overrun. o goody, the rings have gone. joy. no biggy, theres plenty of oil in it and im only 2 mins away, ill carry on. 30secs later. knocknocknock. big end has gone. no oil pressure. that went well. now im waiting for dad to turn up in my 4x 4 and trailer so we can tow it home... guess the red one is going to have to take a back seat.... fxxx.

umm. bu88er. she dead.

2 snapped conrods, gouges in the crank, god knows what damage it did to the bores on the way out.

on the conrods that DIDNT snap i found a lot of longitudinal scraping to the bearing shells, indicating that i should have done the shells when i built it. the engine HAD done 180000 miles but because i saw no appreciable wear to the top end i was sure it was unnecessary, so i didnt check.

short answer. its scrap, anyone got a 3vz bottom end?
