Rest assured discussions about extra shoutiness are under way

Right then, good news and bad news....

Good news: The last two major bits are now done
Bad news : It's made me realise the shifter surround and steering wheel trim also need doing #-o

Oh well, it's all fun, right...? 8-[

Out with the dash piece and driver's side vent

Time to clean and degrease

Cut to 40 minutes later and we have this

The vent wasn't too difficult really. The added challenge was that you have to cut down the seems where the trim meets the actually grills.

The next one wasn't so easy. In fact it was a massive turd to do, both times (don't ask!!) #-o  However, about 90 minutes later, many concentrating (gurning) faces and a few of the bad words, we have this

Altogether it looks like this

My pleased face ---> :D

Me too, which is why I did something about it

Because I'm a glutton for punishment, can't rest while jobs aren't finished and really wanted an excuse for a night off the gym, I did this:

Et voila

I was expecting it to be a massive turd to do, based on the what I'd seen (and experienced with the last one...). In reality it was pretty easy and oddly satisfying. Which means I'm either getting better at this or the whole thing has broken my mind :-k

Just the wheel bit to do now 8-[

Sorry Phil reference the black finish I don't have the BMW anymore.

From work I've now a merc with a similar black finish. I use a bit of car wax on it that keeps it clean and doesn't smudge easily.

Hope your still enjoying your Mr2 too.

No. 8 is off the road at the moment, as I have plans to do some preventative maintenance over the autumn and winter. Even great examples can't avoid the effects of time, so these little bits will keep it youthful for years to come :)

Ticked another job off the list yesterday: De-badging the side logo. It's probably well known by now that I dislike stickers, badges, or just anything that distracts from the clean lines of cars. So inevitably this one had to go. This M235i is staying on the back though, that I feel needs to stay.

How things stood after a week and 700+ miles of driving, in all manner of weather conditions:

Image

Out came Adrienne's hairdryer again. I've spent far too much time with a hairdryer in my hand this last week! Took less than 30 seconds to heat it to the point where it easily came off, leaving minimal residue.

A pass with an alcohol wipe and some polish later

One side done, on to the next

Swiftly followed by giving it damn good wash!

 What can I say. I'm a sucker for a MK2.

We moved house at the end of last year so I've now got about 3x the garage space. It currently has something small in it, which I've essentially been the caretaker of. That's going back to its old home soon though. Plus, the right opportunity came up at the right time.

Pleased to hear the old Mule bits live on. Read about your 2GR plans too, sounds pretty epic! :thumleft:

Apologies I've not had chance to update this yet!

The car (Mule X) is now home. Bit of a saga due to a slipping clutch (now suspected as being the slave cylinder), which took the wind out of my new car sails. It'll be back on the road in a few weeks though.

I'll post a proper update soon. Along with a few shots, the usual meandering story and current plans for the car. It's good to have an SW20 back in my life! :thumleft:
