Little by little :)
Unfortunately decided not to participate in time attack at 17th of May as I will have no more than 2 weeks to do engine run in and I still want to get used to it and to be sure that everything is ok with a new engine etc :)[/quote Thats a shame but the potential to ruin your motor in the first round which would put you under greater pressure for the remaining rounds of the season is, as you have said, to great.

Thanks! :) Unfortunately it seems a bit too much work and I can't make it until first time attack :( Next goal - 31th of May. Can't wait to get it running...

Regarding the paint work, it was done quite fast and not taking much care about a quality as it's a track car :) There are some small dust somewhere, but nothing really that bad. It still can be polished.

I see you have lots of work as well! Good luck on it :thumleft:

Was a great Eater weekend in the garage! :D
The body is almost done, I will probably be putting the engine next weekend. \:D/

Fitting a tank on a ground is a pain...

Bough a new (used) clutch plate. It's a bit smaller, but the mechanic said it's nothing wrong.

Fitted all water pipes, handbrake etc.

Did some painting also :D

Engine bay is waiting for it's heart

Almost finished interior

And finally fitted a lip. It looks great. Fitment is 95% good (a bit too short where bumper is changing a form if you know what I mean). Lip is from Carbenfibre.

Bad news, my intercooler is a bit leaky and it's not really possible to weld it...

Do you think ebay intercoolers are good or it's better to look at used branded IC?

I was happy today to have a non-working day to have another chance to work with my car \:D/

Mainly I was working in the engine bay. Made a custom intake flange, wired everything, connected all the hoses etc. I had some pain as with this manifold some things did not fit in their places, so had to find some free space to fit everything. I've managed somehow.

Also checked the electricity, all the lights etc are working and now I only need one intake pipe to get her running :)

What do you think about black engine vents?

Great progress. Nearly there with it so don't forget the start up video. :thumleft: Black engine vents in my opinion no [-( however each to their own.

Definitely, I will make a start up video! Probably this Sunday :) I am a bit stressed to turn the ignition key :D I hope the engine is rebuilt well.

I wanted some black details, as I spoiler, rear light center panel, black vents and also I will add black side ducts. There will be black front splitter some day as well.

Finally! It's alive and running \:D/

It started quite easily after we filled the tank with fuel. Engine sounds fine as far as I hear.
There was a problem with a clutch. I coudn't turn any gear on. But it was because the new clutch disc is a bit smaller and it touched the old places of flywheel and another clutch side (shame don't know how it's called), but after some tries the clutch broke in and now it works fine.

There is still some small things left to do as moulds etc, but at least I can drive it! It feels owesome inside.

I'm on a slow internet now in my town, so can't upload a start up video to youtube, but try to check here: https://www.facebook.com/MR2Gang

It would be really fantastic if we would have fitted new piston rings... That was a stupid mistake to leave old rings and now car is going back to engine builder this Wednesday.

Anyway, hope to have it running very soon!

Some good news. The engine is disassembled and the rings are totally worn. Why good news? Because pistons and cylinder walls are good, so we will only change the rings and it will run again :)

I hope to get it running next week.

The strange thing is that rings were looking good and the gaps were perfect, but now the gaps are 3mm, so we can't imagine how they could have worn out in such fast way.

Today I visited my engine builder.
All is going quite well, I should get the car back next weekend.

He advised me to use a good oil even on brake-in, because the oil I've used now could have caused a bit of damage on bearings... There were some very small signs on bearings.

Regarding piston - cylinder clearance - it's about 0.09mm. The other guy said me recommended gap for wisecos is 0.07mm, so here we have even bigger.

You can see here old ring fitted in a cylinder with about 2.5mm gap. New rings have almost no gap at all.

Finally got my car of the engine builder. For now it looks good apart of strange idle. Idle looks like with aftermarket cams, revs are flowting and vacuum is around -40 on idle, when it was around -55 before. But it could be because of spark plugs that were fitted by engine builder, because mine NGKs were damaged because of faulty rings.

Today did some work on interior. Fitted door cards to fit a roll cage. It was very simple on passanger side, but more difficult on driver's.
And also cleaned the interior :)
