Hats off to you fella!!!!

I dont suppose you could knock up a circuit board that will convince my other half to let me buy another mr2

Haha, tell her you need an MR2 to develop an automatic gearbox tiptronic conversion that you will then be able to sell to the world and make millions..... worked for me

I want to convert my manual to Auto just so i can pay you to install this! Its awsome! You must have some skills to design and build this system!

I've done a video with a little tour and some driving, demonstrates the snappy gear changes, I think the 0-60 time is improved somewhat with kit in "race" mode.

Let me know what you think!

very nice, very impressive.
only thing i noticed, its not criticism just curiosity is the lag time between pressing the button and the actual shift, more so in race mode. is that a quirk with the auto or something designed in. like i say not criticism as im well impressed with what you've achieved

It changes as fast as the MR2 gearbox will physically change gear, it seems to vary, there is a larger delay between 3rd and 4th than there is 2nd and 3rd for some reason. Downshifts are almost instant though. I'm not sure what other gearboxes are like. Going to be putting one on a camry box to see what that's like!

Just seen this post ... top class, makes me want to design something- not sure what yet !
Well done. :thumleft:

So you're getting the gear indication from the ECU -the ECU 'knows' what gear its in in standard form?

Cheers matey, i'm reading the ECU control signals to the gearbox solenoids to get the gear indication.

Not sure whether to take the kit off and sell the car via autotrader to be honest. :-k

i'd leave it on mate, shows how much work and effort you've put in, only downside is, that if something goes wrong with it, you and you alone are the only man who could fix it :)
