Not actively, but it's time to move it on. As awesome as it is, I just don't get the time to use it as much as it deserves. It belongs on a track, where it was built to thrive.

New goal: sensible 400bhp build.

Dilemma: build a 5S or 3S.

I currently have both blocks and cranks, but need to decide soon as the 5S package is provisionally sold.

I'm terrified of a 3S block cracking and then kicking myself for not going 5S when I had the chance...

Thoughts anyone???

If you have both, 5S no question.

If you are tracking the car or drive hard a lot then 5s would be more sensible, it's the luck of the draw with the 3s engine by the sounds if things, so worth the gamble ?? :-k

you've kind of answered your own question there..

however, a later revision 3s (with the reinforced casting), with a sensible CR and decent management wouldn't scare me at all tbh, but then I've never cracked a block.. I suppose it's down to whether you can swallow the difference in price between a proper 5s build with forged rods and pistons vs a refreshed stock 3s with just forged pistons. is extra ££££ spent now going to pay off in the future when/if you decide you want more power and you already have a motor capable of taking big boost?

I cracked my rev 3 turbo block. I could have just as easily gone out and bought a 2.2 camry and fitted a 5S, but I had no concern about sticking another 3SGTE in it with forged pistons.

I've had MR2 turbos since 2004, and my 1st cracked block was in 2013. It's not a regualr occurrence.

As Rob says above, it's a lot cheaper going with a forged piston 3S over a mega 5S build!

Or you could sleeve the Rev 4 block and not have to worry again

More progress - scrapped the old dashboard I took a jigsaw to in order to have it ready for a track night the same day

Before I stick the new dashboard (thanks Gullz Ter), what can I remove?
I want to keep the heaters, but the AC can go.

Anything else?
