[Mk2] [Turbo] Max HP on my setup

Post by lookieuk »

Hey peeps

just wondering what max HP would be on my setup

forged pistons CE
Standard rods with ARP bolts & ACL racing bearing
ARP bolts on the head
HKS 272 cams
Tia Springs
ARP bolts on the clutch plate

Was looking at using a GTX2860rs with .086 housing or GTX3076r

have a ATS TD05 20G making 340 at the wheels but hoping to get 400bhp+at the wheels with a different turbo

would the standard rods be OK to push 400bhp+?

thanks

Stock rods have been proven up to 635bhp. I'm running 430bhp on stock rods. 5000 miles and no issues so far.

If only it was so easy to say an actual figure.

It all depends on the health of your engine, your tuner IAT etc.

I'd say you have all the right ingredients for your goal. Your setup it almost like mine barring you have cams.

You didn't say your cooling setup. I've got the Gen II GTX 3076r, but i went for the 60ar housing. My net was 431bhp i believe at the crank.

For 400bhp at the wheels that's around 480bhp? Definitely an 82 or more housing.

I'd also had meth into the mix for more safety and better cooling

a 28 frame turbo will struggle to get you there, a GT3076 sized turbo would be better imo

G25 660 I Made 434wheel @ 1.6 bar, 4250 rpm. With a .92 AR.
If you was to go for the smaller AR you would be closer to your target and sooner RPM

Maybe a 550 might be enough?

Hi mate couldn't honestly say but it works very well. It spools 750rpm faster then my gt35.82 which made 490 @ 1.6 bar.

So similar power levels at 1.6bar. just shifted in the rev range.

At 1.85 bar was its most efficient area at 569.
