Never had any bother getting them off with Plusgas, a 17mm ring spanner and a hammer to shock it free.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] worth changing Water pump & Oil pump whilst engine out
If you have the engine out then it's probably worth doing, I would have done the belt with the engine in but now it's out you might aswell. Just use a OEM belt like blueprint or get a Toyota, both will do the job just as well fitted properly.

Not sure but it wont be much , i would take it apart and inspect the block if its ok someone will probably buy it to build a forged bottom end.

Re: Kph to mph
You keep your existing cluster and just swap out the speedo side of it with the new 160mph speedo, the circuit on the back of the speedo does the conversion so it will work straight away.

Re: JLW's ( REV 3 GT spec Turbo, smg Tbar ) YVS Performance Built
Thats not a dig at Fensport by the way they have been ok with me in the past and I had my work done at YVS and have nothing but praise for them, however i have wasted a lot of money in the past on the word of so called specialists.

In my experience owning 3 turbos, most "specialists" are full of poo and will push you into doing work that doesnt really need doing everyone is out to have your pants down. At the end of the day a engine is a engine there is nothing specialist about the MR2 really.

Re: help with 97' turbo GEARBOX
I would go for a 2nd hand box probably pick one up 2nd hand for 200-300 quid and I would expect it to cost about 200 quid labour. Shouldnt be a bad job for a qualified mechanic think the book time is 6 hours.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] What is a good wearing tyre ?
Ad08r I run 225/45/16 and they grip well on a gt3082r at 1.8 bar I would be surprised if there is another road tyre to match it.

Re: Mr2 mk2 turbo when does the side mount intercooler run out of power + fuel pump.
Well if your on standard turbo leave the fuel pump no point upgrading , it will do 1.2 bar on a side mount . You will get loads of people on here telling you side mounts will only do 300hp etc , I'm running a greddy side mount at 1.8 bar on a gt3082r and while it isn't ideal it does the job as a roa...

Re: XS Power Intercooler - worth it or not?
Do it, its such a cheap mod and easy to do. Good for 1-1.2bar on a standard turbo.
Could scrape the bits together for less than 100 quid.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Is 1bar ok for a rev 2 turbo
I ran 1 bar on a rev 2 for 2 years and blew the headgasket, replaced for a metal one and as far as i know its still ok 8 years on. If you want a reliable car just stick to standard but we all know you cant do that :D I would go for it just accept that more boost = more chance you will blow something...

You hear a million different running in procedures, had my forged motor built at YVS with the same 300 Mile running in procedure taking it upto about 5k revs on the a and b roads. All good so far.
Hope you get good weather for the mapping
