Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] So, getting better grip on fueling?
That sounds like a gauntlet being thrown down :D :D :D Would love to see this done, might attempt it myself to see if I get the time / disposable income - the car itself is pretty much expendable, only cost me pocket change and easy enough to pick up another lump :D I have never said a 400bhp stock...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] So, getting better grip on fueling?
build a 400bhp 3sgte road car with stock internals. as i said ( and yes, i'm fed up repeating myself) it won't do 10-15k miles. from my "research" like i've just said, i've seen umpteen cars fail even with decent maps. Shep, have you ever thought that it isn't the power that will determin...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] So, getting better grip on fueling?
there is no way whatsoever with stock internals 400bhp is gonna last 10-15k miles. regardless of how it' mapped.. That sounds like a gauntlet being thrown down :D :D :D Would love to see this done, might attempt it myself to see if I get the time / disposable income - the car itself is pretty much ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] So, getting better grip on fueling?
why don't you explain to me why so many cars around the 300BHP mark have had bottom end failure?? It's very simple. Detonation/knock. Unless you have data about the material properties of the pistons that would explain it? there's been plenty cars run 300bhp on the standard ECU, mine has a shitty b...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] So, getting better grip on fueling?
the rods and crank are fine for fairly serious horsepower but the stock pistons and for that matter the block can go at anything from stock power right the way to whatever boost you want to run. This is well known because so many folks post up about broken ringlands and cracks in the cylinder walls...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] So, getting better grip on fueling?
You mentioned my name & car so I responded to your incorrect statement. The OP specifically ASKED me to look at this thread. Where are you getting your information from? I would like to read it for myself. Yes my car is a drag car. It only ever sees very high load and RPM, a much higher percenta...

Re: The Turbonoz MR2 Budget Beast: 487bhp & 364lb·ft
I fitted the BMIC whilst still running the stock ECU, AFM, CT26 and fuel system.
After fitting the 255lph fuel pump which cured my leaning out issues at 1.2bar, I continued to run with the stock components up to 1.4 bar with good fueling until I fitted the G3 and got rid of the AFM altogether

Cheers, I hope it makes the numbers where it counts. Full project thread here: http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1474137 First paragraph: I suppose I can use this to update how long the engine lasts & how well the car does on the drag strip. I'm not going to be surprised if it does ei...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] i want 300bhp ish :P
What you need to bear in mind, is that a hybrid turbo will push more cfm than a stock one will, so in essence, if you run higher boost, you need to ensure that your fuelling can cope with the volume of air being delivered. I know some folk will disagree, but it's generally known that rev 1/2 inject...

Is this the one with stock head gasket/pistons?
Love the choice of sparkplug too...the only ones I ever found that would cleanly ignite 150bhp of nitrous on my old LET!
Haha, cheers. It's been fun!
Stock everything apart from MHG. Assumed to be from a Rev 3.
BCR8ES: wonder plug.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] So, getting better grip on fueling?
in my opinion, the only reason for using a standalone ECU would be with a bigger build, plenty of cars running 300/320 on the stock rev3 ecu, the car is just about at it's limits internally anyway (i know Noz13 is running some ridiculous boost on standard internals, still only making around 300ish ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Stock Rev2 3SGTE: 487.3bhp & 364.6lbft, 2.2 bar & 8100RPM
Idiots question because you have already stressed the stockness of the stock engine But need to be one million percent sure Stock compression ratio? Bob Hatton was saying in a thread I started on fueling that this is the defining limiter on 3s-gte power, implication being it will det itself to piec...

yeah mate, that's exactly what i was getting at, lost interested now the OP has done his usual and turned it into a self promoting shame fest. :thumleft: Self-promoting a Toyota 3SGTE engine? Still yet to offer any tech insight though mate.... Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Stock Rev2 3SGTE: 487.3bhp & 364.6lbft, 2.2 bar & 8100RPM
my only point being, you used a dyno that is familiar and controlled by you. be nice to see it on an independent dyno on a dyno day for example. am not implying youve fudged numbers, simply saying a run on an indepandent rr would better represent your claims. (imo). im amazed your making power beho...
