Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] wrecked gearbox

Does sound like linkages so at least should be a cheap fix!

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] wrecked gearbox

Have you checked the gear shift linkages mate? Whip wheel off passenger rear and remove undertray. If you look up you should be able to see linkages and check bushes/see if you have movement

Re: HKS SSQV problem

I just stripped my Blitz one today for no real reason (boredom  ) There pretty simple to strip. Just undo the allen bolts and its pretty much a piston, a big spring and a surclip to hold it all together. Heres a pic of an unknown brand dump valve I whipped apart. http://i734.photobucket.com/al...

Re: Hel Brake Lines (advice)

Not being funny mate but its just holds the brake line secure and keeps it from flapping around. Not exactly a hazard (perfectly fine for MOT) and is not dangerous in any way? There is nothing wrong with the HEL lines I have fitted on 3 different cars. Actually Goodridge had the worst reputation in ...

Re: Hel Brake Lines (advice)

I got hel lines and there pretty good. You dont get any thing to attach the rears too unfortunatly. Off the top of my head what I did was use the existing bracket with 2 holes in and threaded a tie wrap through it. Sounds bit ghetto but actually looks pretty stock/tidy and Ive had no probs in 2 years.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] REV 3 Twin Entry - Power Issues

You sure your not just feeling the effects of the weight of extra fuel in the tank? This would make it appear the engine was not pulling as well as its having to haul round an extra say 40 litres which is equivalent to approx 40kg? Thats all I can think of

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] How to tell if a box has LSD

Yep, stock lsd has a bar through the middle.

If it is a TRD/cusco/kaaz, they tend to have a very small hole. This is my TRD:

No LSD will be similar to above picture but with a larger hole

Re: Will these wheels fit on my rev 5 mk2???????????? DEEP DISH!

they wont fit straight on as mr2 have 5x114 pcd. As stated you would need hub adapters which will be expensive. A 9j rim should be ok depending on what suspension your running

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Are all Mk2 drop-links the same (between Revs and models)?

Yeah there all the same mate. Even certain year Ford Mondeo ones fit. If you do a search on here there is a post with part numbers for getting them cheapish from motorfactors etc.

Re: do i have rare optional extra recaros?

Yes they were an optional extra. They are called Recaro SR (1/2/3) or Speed in Europe. Rev 4 onwards I believe. Celica GT4 st205 had them as an option too. Alot of cars at the time had these models eg Civic/integra type R and Evo 4/5. All came in different colours eg Mr2 usually black with rev 3 blu...

Re: Lowering Springs advice needed

I have Apex springs and gives car a good stance. I find them very harsh though on rough roads. I requested the spring rates from Apex and they are: Front 50n/mm (286 lb/in) Rear 42n/mm (239 lb/in) Firstly Im slightly confused as to why the frons are harder than rears? Second these seem massively har...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Transmission Oil question?

4.2 litres for a non LSD box and 3.8 Litres for a LSD Box.
I know everyone raves about MT90 but if you only have a litre in there Id just get down a local motor factors and spend about 20 quid on 4 litres of comma 75w90 and be done with.

Re: Gearbox oil

I have TRD Diff in mine and had loads of problems with gearbox oil. You need 3.8l and mine did not like 75-90 at all. Wheels started hopping and grabbing constantly at slow speed turns. Swapped it out for comma 80 -90 lsd oil (red bottle bout fiver a litre from most motor factors) and this cured it ...

Any piece of threaded stud will do as long as the threads match. then pop 2 nuts on to act as lockers and you will be fine. If I get chance at the weekend Ill measure the pitch of the threads on mine for you.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Mines ECU Remapping ?

All depends on what you want out of your car. 300bhp is deamed about on the limit for reliable stock internals. The mines ecu wont really do any harm. The Celica GT4 boys love these things so could sell it for around 300-400 quid and use the cash for other mods

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] bov need advise?

Dont want to sound patronising mate but did it have an aftermarket Bov? If its standard it wont make a sound as it recircs back into inlet. If its an aftermarket one, they can be adjusted by a nut on them which decides what psi they vent at. If its a Rev1/2 Id keep it standard as venting to atmosphe...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Replace the whole thing or not?

Personally Id change the whole drive shaft. If the bearings come apart in the CV they can be a mare to get back together properly. All really need to do from memory is: undo hub nut (32mm) leave wheel on and car on floor as these can be tight!! Undo 2 19mm bolts holding hub to strut. Poss remove bal...
