IME if the dizzy is a tooth out the car will barely run at all, maybe a cylinder or two will just about fire.
Have a look at the TPS to make sure it is not off its idle switch (or has damage to the TPS plug/wires), this would cause the problem you describe.

Doesn't the hand PFC commander take its reading from the IAT sensor rather than the MAT sensor, though?

Re: Bumper Bar
Hmm well to be fair there is quite a lot of metal between the cabin and rear bumper, including a big lump of pig iron. Personally I wouldn't worry about doing it. Would I take my kids on the public road in it? I'd have to think twice.

I'd be very careful drilling it out! Might be better just to make up a new earth lead and attach it to another point.

Re: Seat play - how to fix?
I seem to recall that the back half bolts to the adjuster brackets, and they may have split them off in order to re-trim them, then not tightened the bolts properly. Access is difficult so I would remove the seat entirely to look into it - it's not a 'known' fault.

IME yes that is a little excessive, especially with a C52. However a genuine 113 @ the wheels is pretty respectable no matter what

You should just be able to replace the bearing in it, usually NSK.

Great work, I tell you I'm not averse to wielding a spanner but that scares the cr@p out of me I think the fact that you share this info is often under-appreciated given other specialists most certainly wouldn't/don't - good on you.

Re: Towing - transmission damage
Assuming the mk1a has the standard 'box then it will tow fine on 4 wheels in neutral. However make sure you don't use the front bumper bar towing point; instead use the one underneath - you may want to take some foam packing or old cloths with you to prevent the bumper being damaged.

Check which way the wheels (ie. from the back or front face) are supposed to accept the tyres, as sometimes this is reversed on aftermarket rims.

If I may chime in with a very humble opinion - secondhand parts will, by their very nature, always be hit & miss. One guy will be happy with something that somebody else sees as scrap. However as a seller you do need to work through people's problems and sort out refunds where it's obvious somet...

+1, just make 100% sure they are correctly adjusted (and even go a little lower for safety's sake).
