Re: mr2 buying advise

Buy purely on condition these days. The majority out there are real dogs!

Re: Exhaust Options

What about a custom exhaust? Is it worth it? Would it be better than a similar priced aftermarket exhaust? Absolutely worth it, however you need to find the right place with the right reputation. Place I took mine there was a 3 month waiting list, which became obvious why once I had the system fitt...

Not surprised, it's just perfect as it is.

Always nice to see a properly done TRD with the side strips. The cheaper ones have none and it makes them look too slabsided to me.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] celica gt four st 205 caliper conversion on mk2 sw20.

Plenty of cars out there with similar weight bias as the MR2. Stock brakes for a longevity point of view are utter turd. 18 years of driving, dozens of different cars from different marques owned that are a similar age to the MR2 and not one single brake seizing issue. MR2s owned for 12 years and lo...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Sills.... a sticky???

I had both sills completely replaced at a local bodyshop. They used Fiesta sills AFAIK. The problem with the sills is the outers are the simple piece to replace, if your inner sills are gone there are many other repair pieces that are required and for someone to tool up to produce them en mass would...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] celica gt four st 205 caliper conversion on mk2 sw20.

Think it was Skinthespin who did that. It sounded like a lot of work and a considerable time tinkering till he was happy with it. One day when I pull my finger out I will get the Porsche calipers fitted to mine which is a fairly simple bracket for the front. The rear incorporating a separate handbra...

Don't waste your time with small claims.

Most pointless way to spend money on top of the money already lost in my experience.

If he's not bothered about having his name dragged up in public for everyone to see, he isn't going to be bothered about having a CCJ against him.

Re: Hks ssqv broken

Open it up and it will probably be the plastic welds at the rear of the valve that have failed resulting in the valve not seating properly.

For the money they really are poorly made.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Digital radio with satnav?

Yes too much for me too as I was looking for something to replace the RNS-D in the RS An option though I haven't looked too far into it is the Parrot Asteroid unit http://www.amazon.co.uk/Parrot-ASTEROID-Smart-Navigation-Multimedia/dp/B00BGBO1ZC/ref=pd_sim_sbs_ce_1 It's Android and uses PArrots own ...

Yes there are units out there that have all that but they are rather pricey

Re: Rev4 Sonic Shadow 3.5L VVTi V6

I'm not too sure how he has done it. On closer look, it looks like flexible boards with arrays of LED's in them, that fit the outline of the lights perfectly. But they aren't ebay specials or anything like that, they look like tiny surface mounted LED's. 100's of them. The brake LED's are in a large...

Re: Looking for a Mk2, what to avoid?

If it's insecure it's usually just two bolts holding it on. Maybe worth asking for a photo of the area to confirm. But to me if it needs welding that sounds like the underside of the chassis is going rotten as that's where the bracket fixes to. I think Foxy-Stoat had that problem with his rev1 form ...

I forgot to update this.

Erm, I own it again :eye:

Plans are to get the Brembo's finally fitted all round as a front caliper has seized again and I've just had enough of them! Also find a decent set of Greddy skirts and then respray time (bringing back the black strip) :thumleft:

Re: Looking for a Mk2, what to avoid?

I'm seeing one (Rev1) I've spotted on Sunday, it needs a starter motor and front anti-roll bar mount? (possibly needs the mount welding) but other than that it's ready to go. Anti roll bar bracket, or the area on the chassis where the anti roll bar bracket bolts to? If it's the latter run away, it ...

Thought I'd chuck in the aeroware one too. To me it looks just right on whatever revision of Mk2. But then I do like the subtle but effective stuff rather than in your face.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Best looking spoiler for Mk2?

Close one between Rev1+2 and the rev 3+4 for me. Both follow the lines of the car really well. The rev5 after having one on my old car for a while I now consider a complete disaster  If going aftermarket the rev1+2 Aeroware is very subtle but effective and there is a raised rev3+4 one but canno...

Re: Favourite Wheels Options

They are 18x8J ET35 with 215/35(I think)/18 tyres. They are quite close to the front struts, but would prefer next time to go for a 225 tyre to reduce the stretch as I'm not a fan of stretched tyres. Hope that helps , also the old method was to have the split rim screws proud of the contact face whi...
