Re: [Mk2] [NA] Rear caliper piston won't wind back out?
I've had the cutouts aligned like that on every attempt but still not luck  The handbrake cables all look to move freely and lever arms seem free aswell, handbrake worked superbly before doing the pads. I'l have another play this weekend but I think there is chance I could have snapped the ...

[Mk2] [NA] Rear caliper piston won't wind back out?
When fitting my pads on the weekend, I couldn't get the rear caliper pistons to wind back out and engage the handbrake mechanism. Using Paul Woods guide I wound the pistons all the way in, then tried to wind them out by atleast 180 degrees but they just kept spinning. Is it possible the pistons have...

Re: MR2 Rev5 N/A Custom Exhaust Options?
I've got a Mongoose on my rev5 which I'm quite happy with. It's a shame you weren't after one last month as I just sold a full custom system for a Rev5, and unknown to me the lad who bought it had a rev3 so it didn't even fit his car

Re: Mr2 Mk2 Insurance for under 25's
I always used Admiral since I was 18 and managed to insure MR2's and various other cars with no problem. I've been with Sky Insurance for the last couple of years though and they've been the cheapest by far, and offer club discounts

Re: Motul 5w40 Oil on track (N/A)
10w 40 Fully synth is the tried and tested on track in both track and race conditions. This is why I looked into changing to a 10w40 in the first place as I know its ideal for track work... 5w40 vs 10w40 isn't going to make any difference on track though as it's multigrade, and the hot viscosity is...

Motul 5w40 Oil on track (N/A)
I'm in the process of ordering service items for my Rev5 NA when I remembered I have about 7 Litres of Motul 8100 X-CESS 5w40 Fully Synthetic left over from my Integra. I know this oil worked very well for road and track with my Honda engine but was not sure if the 5w40 would be ok with my MR2 on tr...

I don't think the EBC green stuff will last long on track mind, might be worth getting some more track related pads at the ready
Cheers. And don't worry they're being replaced with Yellowstuff this week

Re: Alex's Red Rev5 NA Fast Road/Track
The car also had some crazy custom exhaust from the manifold back. I'm not a fan of loud large exhausts and was also worried it would cause me some trouble with track noise limits. I picked up a Mongoose backbox but upon fitting it found that none of the flanges were in OEM positions ](*,) http://i1...

Alex's Red Rev5 NA Fast Road/Track
Its about time I made a build thread on here. After much deliberation of which car to get as a cheap fun road and track toy it seems I had ended up back in an MR2! I bought her with some quite "distasteful" mods, but here is how she currently stands. http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/b50...

Re: 195 50 16 on front?
Pretty sure you can still get them as they're the control tyre for the Lotus championship, unless they've already switched to the ZZS? Either way there are loads of 195 50 16 part worn semi slicks about for not alot of money. Looking at how the 205 45 16 sits on the 7j though I'm worried 195 50 16 w...

Re: Big steering issue!
Did you ever get a 4-wheel laser alignment? Sorry if you've already had it checked but if not it can have a serious effect on how the car drives. Sometimes when I've changed suspension parts and go to get an alignment I feel like I'm actually struggling to keep the car on the road on the way there. ...

Re: Fast-road/Track car advice - mk3 2ZZ or mk2 turbo?
I agree with what Gazza has said there ^ I was in a similar position to you last month (Thats my thread link posted earlier by Ben). I ended up with a Rev5 NA with a few upgrades for no real reason other than I just quite like Mk2's (And I've had 4 of them now so know my way around them). I had the ...

195 50 16 on front?
I'm looking at various tyre options for 7J & 8J wheels and wondered if anyone had tried 195 50 16 on the front with 16x7 wheels? The reason I ask is many Lotus race cars run 195 50 16 and 225 45 16 track tyres so I can pick up used decent semi slicks quite cheap. Naturally I'd expect it to be a ...

Re: tein super street coilovers and Adjustable tein topmounts
Yeah sorry I didn't want to fly in saying they're overpriced or anything, but as you didn't know a price I just thought I'd let you know what I paid for my old ones. (Although mine had about 10-15k miles on them so I'd expect yours to be a bit more £) Get some decent pictures up is the best bet, I w...

Re: tein super street coilovers and Adjustable tein topmounts
Sadly I think you might struggle to get £500. I used to have the same Tein setup and they were great, but its always a risk buying 2nd hand coilovers. I think most people willing to pay £500 would end up just spending a bit more and getting brand new Yellowspeed/BC which then come with a warranty et...
