I believe tein themselves will rebuild a strut for you they are very expensive though.

Take the ECU out of the boot open the lid and have a look for corroded / leaking capacitors.

Flush the system, take the thermostat out drop it in boiling water to double check that it is working properly. Fill back backup and make sure you've got all of the air out. MR2's are notorious for being difficult to bleed the cooling system.

even with an AVCR if the wastgate isn't flowing enough then you will still get boost creep as he had said he turned the boost controller off and it was still overboosting
