Re: [Rev 3 turbo] Shot blasting rear subframe

I did this on mine around 5 years ago. Cost was around £80 from what I remember. It looks good for a while, but I'm still to be convinced about the durability of powder coat.

Next time I'd blast it and POR15 it I reckon.

Re: Forum thanks

Nooo, updating and adding loads of features that slow things down and frustrate the end user is not a good thing. Maybe add a thanks function, ditch the pink for a fresher white and blue format and that is all it needs! If they do update to a newer version, just because there are lots of features do...

Re: Updating 20 year old suspension - on the cheap

Are you wanting struts or inserts? KYB as far as I know only make the inserts not entire struts. TCB parts do genuine Toyota struts for £55-60+VAT, cannot really argue with that. I'd wager once you get your suspension apart you'll find the top strut plates and front mounts totally shot too. So if th...

Re: should I do a light tint my rear lights?

I had my rear lights very lightly tinted on the inside when they were modified. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/leewa79/DSC_0303_zps6c41a4d0.jpg The difference is very subtle, but it makes the red a darker shade and it tones down the amber indicator sections. Also doesn't look a bit council. ...

Re: mr2 autotrader prices?!

It's not always the case but a higher price can reflect a better condition car. If I wanted a solid car then I'd be happier paying a premium than pay for the hassle and unknowns of having someone return it to decent condition. Even doing most stuff yourself costs can get rather high. It wouldn't be ...

Re: Fujitsubo Legalis R exhaust - NA vs Turbo differences

It will be considerably louder on an n/a. It was whisper quiet on my turbo but after the V6 conversion it was annoying the neighbours and myself. It had to go!

Re: Stainless exhaust.

If you are in Hull head up the A1 to Newcastle have a good night out while the car is booked into AAS. They will do a fantastic quality exhaust, will sound and look exactly like you want. It's not the cheapest or most expensive but they are the best in my experience and I've had my fair share of cus...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Clutch for 400-500bhp

ACT 6puk rated for 500hp will destroy your left leg in traffic also a grabby thing that requires higher revs means its not a particularly nice thing to use unless you're on the right road with little traffic. Low cost clutch options for high power applications don't really work out well for everyday...

Re: Sell, break, repair?

Your brakes are goosed that's the main stuff. Personally I'd avoid 2nd hand calipers, they only lead to issues sooner rather than later. This is what £230 at big redd did to my calipers: http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/leewa79/temporary_zpsb26c2163.jpg And they were absolutely shot at! Went f...

Steve at Edge Automotive did mine in Nappa leather, around £100 from what I remember.

It's not the nicest of wheels, the rev4 but it looks the best it can now:

Re: Why are so many 2's being broken for scrap?

There are 1000's of MR2 left and to be honest I don't ever see values rising as a direct result of rarity. Condition and desirable aftermarket parts/options is what has a greater effect on price in my opinion. You'll see plenty of £1K-£2K cars around, very occasionally a car will come up that is exc...

That's very tidy! ^^^^^ I view mine as a potential classic. It's fragile, expensive to run, temperamental, built in low numbers and it actually has character, odd as it's German. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/leewa79/DSC_0005_zps5c811af4.jpg I really cannot see me parting with it ...

Re: Has anyone else found a tubby can be very eco friendly?

Maybe not scientific but 3 of us brimmed our cars in Elgin and drove together for 200 miles at the same pace. Mine was the only turbo but according to the gauge it had used considerably less fuel. Maybe to do with gearing, the n/a is quite busy at motorway speeds.

I always thought you were a similar age to me Jim, does the 'race look' not seem a little more for the younger lot? :eye:

I thought your last rev5 was about as far as I would go for exterior mods and looked great because of it.

Re: Car Covers

If it's purely for indoors it will be fine for protecting the car. I think that's the model I have for mine, which keeps it protected from the little one and the cats climbing all over it.

If it was outdoors then the Monsoon would be the minimum I'd go for.
