Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)

you do like to create extra work :) I really don't it just finds me, especially with the 1.5  Once the last few snagging bits are sorted it will be perfect, as fundamentally it's a very good car. I'm just picking up the results of it likely being stored for a while before I got it and a few or...

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)

Thanks, Jimi. I really appreciate the information you've shared :thumright:

I'll try and get some time on it tomorrow. Beyond that it will be Sunday.

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)

I've definitely done a thing #-o

Anything you have would be appareciated, thanks :)

I've got Sunday marked in the diary as a day to work on the cars. Primarily fitting the new rear coilovers on the SW but I'll turn the Eye of Sauron towards the 1.5 once that's done.

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)

Really useful information, thank you :D I'm moving it up to the farm in a couple of weeks. Once there I'll pull the dash again and methodically work through fuses, relays etc, to see if it's any of those that have failed. Beyond that I'll delve deeper and check all the wiring elements, in case somet...

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)

So they don't pop up or light up ? What year is it ? the retract control relays have different versions (mostly due to dim/dip. Your relay will either be gray(1a) or black (1b) a crossover car could be either, can't remember if they are interchangeable I have a vague feeling they aren't. Not sure i...

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)

Regarding your 1.5 headlights, if they don't come up, if you haven't already done it, check the 7.5A RTR and the 30A RTR MTR fuses, both in RB #5 (front boot fusebox) either or both will stop the headlights from coming up. You can if necessary wind them up/down by hand  Thanks for the suggest...

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)

Apologies for the late reply; we've just got back from crusing around North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. We had quite a choice of options when we picked up the hire car, with a Chrysler 300S and a big ass Ford F150 being the two most appealing options on the day. We opted for the 300S becau...

Re: Pistols MR2 stories... MK1 and 2zz MK3

Good write-up :)

I love how the world has come together to give a scenario where we both have rotten white Mk1's, in similar conditon and at the same time! IMOCs main source of posts for 2023 will be the two of us sharing photos of rust and bits of Mk1's!

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)

In a bid to not need to spend 1000 hours writing up massively late thread updates, I'll push on and make them a little more incremental. While the SC project is one for next year, I did spend some time at the farm and used that as an opportunity to at least chip away at things. The initial goal was ...

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)

Oh! I forgot to mention that the main beams no longer work or pop up. Probably something I've done while I have the dash apart #-o The fuses and relays appear to be ok and the retractable headlight module has been swapped with the one from the SC. The side lights come on, as do the lights in the clu...

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)

Ok, onto the last of the carrots and the last of the new car write-ups... For now... ;) If you've read chapter and verse of my other posts you'll be aware of two things: 1) I take far too many photos and uploads them in a size that makes them a screen rendering nightmare. Sorry, not sorry  ...

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)

Ahh, I get which clips you mean now.

I bought these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265732305027 ... 5732305027. They've done the job well and have stood up to being removed on a couple of occassions so far :)

Re: Reinstating Air Con

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with this. My A/C rad is shot and the whole system has no doubt turned into a potato by now. I did toy with deleting everything but also have PTSD of the time we did the Le Mans trip and felt like steamed broccoli for 300 miles one day! Plus, the UK is fast b...

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)

Love your mk2 and mk1 looking good. Had my MOT (rev3) and first fail for years on emissions Co2 and small amount of rust on internal sill and behind rear wheels. Hoping the majority is as sound as it appears and that they won't need to remove the rear bumper to weld. Did you get the clips from Mr T...

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)

Oh, I forgot to mention I'd removed the engine bay stickers! #-o  We all know I'm not a fan of stickers and I'm especially not a fan of Tein, after they recently quoted me £300 per shock, plus any extras, to service them! Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)

A small update on X, while I continue to do the write-up of XIII. One of the things that's been bugging me since is geeting the car is the now very tired tint on the driver and passenger windows. At one point I'm sure it looked great but time and wear have definitely taken their toll. The tint now b...
