Engineers report required for insurance on modded car!!!

Hi I am trying to get insurance for my Rev2 that has a turbo engine conversion, a fuel cut defender and a boost controller fitted. By the standards of the club this car is not very heavily modified and is not very powerfull. Most insurers will not touch it and the majority of those that will want si...

Sill Repair sections needed - are they available?

Hi

I need to repair the rear sills on my Mk2.

I have heard that various commonly available sills can be used, including Ford Ka and Ford fiesta ones.

Can anyone confirm if either of these are any use and if so what year of ford is needed?

Any help and/or advice gratefully recieved.

I need drop links - where to buy?

Hi Peeps I need Mk1b droplink expertise! I have the usual knocking coming from my front suspension and I am going to try changing the droplinks to cure it. I have heard that ford Focus ones work well and I was wondering if the Ford ones suit the front or the rear on the mk1. Is there a particular ye...

binding brakes

I had a problem on my MK2 that was like this. I changed the disks, pads and caliper and it still had the problem!!!! In the end changing the stainless steel clip things that go between the pad and the cast brake pad mounting cured the problem. I assume that the pad was not able to move freely due to...

Dump valve

Thanks for all the great answers. I feel reassured enough to give the Toyota recirculating valve a go. Hopefully it came with all of the required pipework to fit.

Pillar trim

The threaded part that has gone missing is a brass insert that is moulded into the pillar trim itself. All you need to do is unscrew the pillar trim and replace it or possibly try to epoxy the threaded inset back into the trim.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Is there such a thing a s a silent dump valve?

Thank you all for your replies. I have a standard Toyota recirculating valve but I am reluctant to go down the recirculating route because I am a bit worried about the temperature of the air going into the engine. After compression by the turbo the air is over 100 degrees I believe. I have heard tha...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Is there such a thing a s a silent dump valve?

Hi
Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a dump valve that does not make the pssst sound? The dump valve on my rev2 Mk2 turbo is very loud and I am hoping to change it for one that is silent or at least one that is quieter.

Securing spare wheel

You may find that you can get longer bolts off other cars such as a Mk3 MR2 or a Celica perhaps. A good Toyota breakers is what you need. Regarding the centre hole alignment you may find that one of the wheel stud holes can be used

I once met a guy who worked in marketing for a major name in the lubricating oil industry (I cant remember which one but it was one like mobil). Mk2 sills

Hi
If you tool up and make the parts I will have a set. I have a Mk2 that is off the road due to a rot problem. It is impossible to cut out a repair section since they all rot in the same place.
Cheers

Hi

If it is a really small tube right at the front of the car that is open at one end it could be the drain tube for the radiator.

Hi
I live in Gloucester and am fairly handy with the spanners. I have never changed an engine on a MR2 but I could possibly help at the weekends (work permitting). I could also bring my rev2 turbo along to use for reference.

I gave Big Red caliper refurbishers in Worcester a box full of Mk1 calipers to save them from scrapping. They will probably have them waiting for an order for a refurbished caliper. They are good value for money.

There is a company that produces corrosion inhibiting oils that you put into engines, gearboxes etc when they are stored. I have some of the products.
