Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Droplinks change
I think angle grinder / dremel is a necessity for dealing with old ones generally.

If he has a rev 2 which hasn't already vented to atmosphere through old age then I'm impressed.

Re: Protecting the underside of my Mk 2, what are my options
Have just done this with the new arms & polybushes due to go on mine. Wire-wooled with a dremel, applied rust-remover to convert as much of the oxidisation back to sound metal as possible and two coats of hammerite. Now I just need the weather to improve long enough for them to be fitted. The jo...

Re: Cheap eBay Coilovers.
I know that I'll be parting with my Teins at the end of this year (After Germany, where the roads and the Nordschleife make them wonderful) for reason of hardness. As stated above, they're a seriously unforgiving ride and on the b-roads around here lead to the MR2 trying to snap the wheel from me as...

Re: Respray
Don't go for a cheap respray. This car had one (it's what gave me Super-Red-tinted-glasses, seeing one that wasn't bright pink), and although it's looking far better now, it's taken a lot of elbow grease on my part to get looking nice. A cheap respray with mouldings etc will look great for about 6-8...

Re: Tein Rebuilds
Cheers for the offer - I'd would appreciate it.
Unfortunately I need the car driveable for the end of July (annual Nordschleife pilgrimage) so I'm up against it timewise now. May end up having to bite the bullet with Tein, if they say they're willing to rebuild.
Cheers!

Re: Tein Rebuilds
No dice with Gaz - won't even consider it without a drive down to Essex to examine them. Tried Camskill as they're a Tein dealer - advised me to go straight to Tein as they stated it'd be cheaper. Received a very friendly e-mail from Tein UK asking for more information. Fingers crossed - but I suspe...

Tein Rebuilds
So I've decided to suck it up with the Tein super streets (can't really justify cost of replacing the whole set up with a softer set up), but suspect there might be a slow leak on front passenger side. I know the official stance is ship the shock to Japan for Tein HQ to fix, but this seems a bit exp...

Jacking MK2 by 4 axle stands (no wheels)
Afternoon folks. Quick question - taking my stock rev 2 wheels in to be refurbed tomorrow. I've got 4 axle stands and a jack. I need the car as I'm up against it timewise and need to replace the drop links this week ahead of a driving hol over the bank holiday. What's the best way of supporting the ...

Re: Droplinks for Tein Super Street coilovers
Out of interest how did people find removing the old bolts from the front Tein shocks?
Due to the bolt being seized on and inside the bracket against the shock, did you all just cut through the bolt on the outside? If not how did you get the leverage to remove?

Gets a lot more attention than my generic MK5 Golf GTI, and mine's in a lot worse condition.

Agreed but there's nothing more annoying than a useless gauge that has managed to find a way of becoming even more useless!

All fixed. Confirming I am a moron. Boost Sensor hose had totally come loose. No sign of the clip so it must have worked loose over time.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Moronic installation by self results on faulty stock boost gauge?
Can't see how.running vacuum has caused this. Followed map cable harness through and I've not touched it during running house. Has the boost pressure sensor failed most likely? as soon as ignition power hits gauge jumps to over half and remains.there when engine on. Could there be a short? If do.are...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Moronic installation by self results on faulty stock boost gauge?
My stock boost gauge now jumps to the midway point when receiving power via ignition (e.g. the moment the key hits the second notch prior to ignition) and freezes there. I followed an installation guide for running vaccum hose to a blitz turbo timer / digital gauge, which involved connecting the hos...
