Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] What's people's thoughts on wrapping hot and cold intercooler pipes?

Fitting a good quality turbo blanket (don't bother with the cheap ebay cr*p) would be where I'd start, they significantly reduce the radiated heat from the turbo, after a spirited run the blanket is just warm to the touch. The knock on effect of this should be lower engine bay and intake temps. Not...

Quick update as I almost forgot. Went to get my pipes from hell sorted and so far no more leaks. The guys at pacific works really know their stuff and I will definately be coming back if I need further assistance. Luke also helped me diagnose my knocking sound as a drop link from the front - I have ...

Re: HOT HOT HOT - remove rain guard?

Wilkie, how significant does that fan reduce engine bay temps? Im thinking of doing what your doing as it keeps the original rain tray and hence stops water getting everywhere. Where did you get your fan from?

Thanks.

Re: HOT HOT HOT - remove rain guard?

my Cold pipe was HOT when I just got out of my car this evening with the OE IC. The intercooler pipe to throttle body should still be warm/hot even if you have an aftermarket smic although intake temps should see some improvements when travelling at speed. Sticking a fan on the engine lid would be ...

Re: Which Oil?

Nothing wrong with that kit but if it was me I would definately go for an ester synthetic because the cost isnt much more than fully and is much better quality.

Re: check this Ferrari/MR2!! Looking good!!

That's the trouble with showcasing a Ferrari next to an MR2 - everyone will think it's a replica! It's also why I couldn't own an F355, despite them being very pretty cars, a lot of people's first reactions would be "...is that an MR2 or a real Ferrari?" Looks like bit of a beast though! ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Gearbox whine

So long as it doesnt sound like it has a straight cut gearbox then I wouldnt worry, these cars are getting old so its to be expected. Changing the oil may help.

The whining is very normal and I wouldnt really worry about it, maybe consider changing the gearbox oil if it hasnt been done recently.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Best replacement bulbs for headlights

Philips x treme +100 and osram night breaker plus are both performance bulbs but will not give the HID look. You should consider philips blue vision ultra /osram cool blue intense if you're after a 'whiter' colour.

+1

I've had 17s before but then changed to 16s and the ride was so much better on the UK roads. The response and handling seemed better too.

Pacific Works

Went to see Luke about a few problems on my rev 2 turbo and it was a very good experience. He managed get to some things that needed sorting and spotting additional problems which even I didnt spot.

Will definately be going back to him to get my pipes from hell sorted when his free.

The mesh is a really good idea although my air con rad takes most of the pounding so not really worried.. :o
