Re: [FINALIZED] MK2 ECUs
Are they definitely compatible? The Rev4 and Rev5 EU part numbers are different - http://japan-parts.eu/toyota/eu/1997/mr2/sw20r-ajmzfg/3_211220_009_/electrical/8404_electronic-fuel-injection-system#89661 I'll go with.... reasonably confident lol. If they are different they won't be *very* differen...

Re: [FINALIZED] MK2 ECUs
Nah leaky caps is pretty much it, and when they go bad it's obvious. I can bring it to JAE if you like and you can try it?

Re: Is this weldable ?
Yeah, it sucks but it's the best course of action really. I tried pursuing Toyota's 10yr anti corrosion warranty at the time but they weren't having it. The only saving grace is that the subframe is very easy to replace! It's light and there's not much holding it on and only 1 exhaust pipe in the wa...

Squash the top of the nut in a vice so it's a bit oval shaped.

Re: Gearing
I think you want the final drive from a Celica GT4, which is still a 3.9 final drive. It's been done before: Just to clear up the confusion, Scott had the longer final drive fitted - all the gears are std. The final drive mod consists of a Crown wheel, pinion & oil pump gear. This will effective...

MK2 Powerflex Front Engine Mount
I have a Powerflex insert for the front engine mount of a MK2. There are 3 sizes of front engine mount and the only way to tell for sure which size you need is to measure the diameter of the hole in your existing mount. This is the 79mm variant, powerflex part number PFR76-308. It's unused and still...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 0v to brown wire on starter
The wiring diagram I have to hand is for a 3SGE so while the principals are the same the wiring colours may not be. I have provided them just in case. The starter relay is the green one in the boot next to the ECU. The brown connector on the starter has 1 wire in it (black w/white stripe on 3SGE). T...

The last picture won't be it - that's the body control ECU so that will be for alarm related functions around door locks.

Alternator Lock Bolt Weirdness
I'm doing some work on a rev4 NA engined car. It was supplied in bits so I'm reassembling and I've got to the alternator. The adjuster mechanism and pivot bolt were supplied but the lock bolt was not, so I ordered 90119-08850 from Toyota - it's a weird bolt with a really long head. I remembered it b...

Re: Is this weldable ?
Pre and post facelift are different subframes. The main difference is that the post facelift has more underbody bracing, and as a result there are mounts for the additional braces on the later subframe. You can run a pre facelift subframe on a post facelift car, you just lose the extra braces. When ...

Re: Retrofit aircon to UK NA?
Of the few UK cars I've seen with AC they've all had the JDM unit. I.e. AC and Econ button. It's only the US market that I'm aware of that just have the one big AC button. That's not the difference. The JDM unit has a scale of degrees Celsius on the slider rather than just cold to hot. The controll...

Re: Retrofit aircon to UK NA?
Likewise I don't think the right wiring would be in place on a UK car to run the JDM parts. If you take a look under the dash on a UK car without aircon, you'll find the plug for the aircon control unit with a shunt in it to convert the wiring to non-aircon. I've not checked all the wiring, but it'...

Re: Retrofit aircon to UK NA?
Mechanically it should be straightforward. The AC system consists of a LOT of parts though, and the electronics are different between UK and JDM cars so I don't think you would be able to take controller units from a JDM car if you were retrofitting to a UK car. Likewise I don't think the right wiri...
