Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Boost/Map sensor
If you've got a REV2, then consider Jeremys' mappable standard ECU conversion. It's a lot more outlay, but allows access to everything you could ever need. We are currently putting miles on the production hardware as Jeremy perfects the ECU tuning software. Check it out in modifications. I'll try an...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Hideous Fuel Consumption
IMHO having owned 2 x Rev1 and a Rev2, only ever use the STOCK recirc system in perfect working order, it's easily the best solution out there.

Re: Steve's 1.5 SE build thread
That's a good point, it'll protect the turbo better for sure. Out of interest and just for kicks if you can work (and weld) as fast as you do perhaps try both ways round, have a drive and a feel?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] !!! REV2 Turbo Mappable ECU !!!
Went up to see Jeremy today with Gersen, fitted his ECU and am now driving round putting mileage on it. Was literally 5 minutes to bolt and plug it in. No more Fuel Cut defenser needed just raise the boost limit, no more speed limiter, choose your RPM limit, when the T-VIS opens, what air temp the T...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Hideous Fuel Consumption
You've kinda misunderstood what's causing the over fuelling... Imagine your AFM measures 1 litre of air passing through it. It knows to add 1ml of fuel to it to be efficient. Then suddenly, between gear changes, you dump out 100ml of air, suddenly the ECU is sill putting in 1ml of fuel, when it only...

Re: Steve's 1.5 SE build thread
If you have a choice where to put the dump valve on the re-piping plan would it be an idea to move it really close to the throttle butterfly? This will aid re-spool and quicken up getting back on boost after a 'dump' since the pressure will be in the whole pipework rather than just the short section...

On a rev1 and 2 the atmospheric dump valve will cause over fuelling

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Boost/Map sensor
you can fit the FCD at the SENSOR end rather than going into the ECU, it's less *complicated*.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Hideous Fuel Consumption
AFM is likely, or a boost leak.
Sticking brakes too, or low tyre pressure. Drive at high speed, then touch each wheel (not caliper or disc!!) and a hotter-than-the-others one indicates sticking pistons/slide pins.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Boost/Map sensor
I agree with Jim 100%, don't remove fuel cut, just raise it's limit. You're asking for trouble otherwise.
You wouldn't remove the rev limiter would you? Just set it higher!

Re: Steve's 1.5 SE build thread
I notice there's an atmospheric dump valve on with the AFM. Is this compulsory or the customers choice? I always struggled fueling wise making an atmos' dump valve work with the AFM

Re: Steve's 1.5 SE build thread
Do you fit the triangular bracing bracket that bolts the lower downpipe flange to the engine block to help prevent stress fractures? it's a bit of bent thick metal in a triangular shape where the 2 lower bolt holes line up with the top 2 bolts on the 3-hole downpipe flange, and the upper bolts to th...

Re: [FINALIZED] mr2 with over boost prob forsale
actual *overboosting* which is where more PSI than is intended reached the actual inlet manifold is extremely easy to fix. It can only POSSIBLY be a number of very simple things. I mean, if you were to buy a NEW actuator (£95) some piping (£10) and angle grind the decat pipe to fit properly (turbo g...

Re: [FINALIZED] mr2 with over boost prob forsale
cheerz fella im gonna look at the intercooler piping 2morrow and make sure everything is tight Intercooler pipework will *NOT* cause a high PSI boost figure to register on a gauge. Only the cars self-control mechanism being faulty can do this. If your intercooler pipework is loose, the turbo will o...

Re: [FINALIZED] mr2 with over boost prob forsale
You've got a bleed-valve on there, and a dump-to-atmosphere valve. The stock rev1 with decat, intercooler, exhaust and filter will overboost in this configuration. The dump-to-atmos valve is not recommended as it will over-fuel the car due to "measured" air in the system being vented away ...
