Re: New MK1 owner saying hi........

Hiyup :)

I am a reborn newbie to IMOC too. Used to visit the old forum/site when I have my MKII Rev3, but left the MR2 circle for a while.

But am back again, just with a MKI this time 8)

Re: MKI Idling Strangeness

The car started and idled fine this morning - none of this bouncing on the revs... :? Still the expansion bottle is very low in level. So will be topping up and bleeding the system. The cap on the bottle is quite perished and does look to broken/cracked too. I hope the MKI in the scrappy down the ro...

Re: MKI Idling Strangeness

Thanks Lauren - I thought so too

This "expansion bottle" - is that the white-ish see-through plastic container that you check the level of coolant in?

Appologies for pestering with so many Q's

Cheers

Re: MKI Idling Strangeness

Well seeing as the coolant level in the resevoir is dangerously low, I'll start there. I reckon there's gotta be a leak somewhere if the coolant is that low. I'll fill/bleed and re-fill the system this afternoon and try get to the root of the problem. What type of coolant should be used? All my book...

Re: MKI Specs

Thanks for the info to date.

Will continue searching... Don't have too much time at the moment, but it will be a long term project.

I take it my car is a MKIa being an 85 model? Was there ever a sales brochure available that listed all the features of the car?

Cheers for that!

Just looked and the coolant level is a little lower than half way so it does make sense :?

MKI Idling Strangeness

As a few of you know I picked up a MKI for next to nothing. As expected with any car that costs next to nothing, I am begining to find the faults the previous owner did not disclose. When I saw the car, it started fine and was idling fine. But after the MKI was dropped off on my drive and I managed ...

Re: Pics of the MKI As Promissed

what are your plans for the car if you dont mind me asking? It will be restored to original state whilst I use it for weekend fun (not thrashing). The restoration will take about a year as and when budget is available. There has been a plan on me getting a Rev3+ tubby ever since I had to sell my UK...

Re: MKI Specs

Thanks Lauren :) I had browsed through the site before posting here when trying to find general info on the MKI, but nothing seemed exactly what I was looking for. They have specs of MKI's in Australia, U.S and Japan. How do these variations compare with the UK models? I was just after info that lis...

MKI Specs

Now I know my MKII's relatively well (i.e revisions/specs etc...) I was wondering if there is information (online or other) on "revisions" or specs on the MKI's somewhere? I have found info on U.S based MKI's but nothing on UK/Europe supplied that I can understand... I'd like to try...

Re: Damn Ebay!!!

Cheers People 8) Toni - The sides were re-sprayed not too long ago (IIRC it was 2 years ago) The top is very faded, but hoping some T-Cut will bring back a bit of shine until I get the funds to respray. It will need new front wings/arches and a front splitter (lower lip) as these are severely corrod...

Re: Damn Ebay!!!

I think so. I saw the car on the weekend and was worth every penny I bid. Initially I was happy to pay upto £500 for something in it's condition, but when viewing the owner said he would pull it off ebay if I offered him £400 (after hagling). He also said I could take my chances on bidding as he wou...

Damn Ebay!!!

Well I just found out I gone and won the bidding on a pretty "OK condition for age" C-Reg MKI with 116 000 miles 8) It just needs discs and pads all round for MOT and then new arches for the front (backs have previously been done, but not well - still treatable). Also needs a new splitter....

Re: MK1a - car out of bodyshop/restorationage pics

Lauren, can you please PM me the details of the place that did the work and roughly what it cost? I recently won bidding for a C-Reg on ebay that will need some body work doing... Obviously I'm going to look into places locally, but just want to keep my options open at the moment as I'm yet to colle...

Re: Sunrise imports?

Hi Coke Can,

Have a look on Team Lexus (the Lexus Owners Club). They might be able to point you in a good direction for a Soarer (even though often badged Toyota). Could also try Toyota Owners Club I suppose.

BTW, you have PM regarding your MKI
