Re: Mechanical Boost Gauge
And change your ecu temp sensor, as it's probably not been done since 1998. re this above. Is this the temp sensor on the engine bay hood/cover or something else? if so where is said beast? In the mission to make mine run at its best, on my list of things to change are (ignition leads, coil pack,kno...

Re: Engine light not displaying
I'm trying to see if there are any fault codes read through the diagnostics port. I'm pretty sure I've bridged the connections together right (e1 and te1) but when I turn the ignition on the engine management light doesn't come on. Now, is this supposed to come on when the car's ignition is on anyw...

Just use the wiring loom and ECU off your old engine on the new one you are going to fit, easy.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Bonnet Vents ??
Just be careful how much you cut of the front bulkhead behind the rad's, it forms a box section that supports the the mounting brackets for the front tie-rods... I went into this a few years ago. You have to weld on a frame around the part of the metal that is going to be cut out, once that is done...

If it is in fact the VSV, and the car has gone into a "fail safe" mode where it will run on wastegate pressure, could I ensure this by disconnecting the VSV and see if the car behaves in the same way? 99ron Check for fault codes to start with, then check your cam timing then the ign timin...

Re: Mechanical Boost Gauge
Your stock boost control is not working and or the ECU thinks the engine is still cold via the ecu temp sensor.

Re: blown turbo?
Hi bob, There is a bit of oil around the intake of the turbo. Surely this isn't enough to be spat out through the bov in large amounts though? There is some play in the shaft side to side but not so much in and out. The turbo has done around 95k now. What am in looking at rebuild wise for a ct20b a...

Re: Booooooost
So I could upgrade the injectors and fuel pump and be fine? No, you will need an ECU to control them and you still have 8.8 to 1 compression pistons in a Rev 1&2 The stock engines run under the control of the knock sensor most of the time so turning up the boost makes that worse. Head gasket wi...

Re: blown turbo?
After sorting endless issues with my mr2 turbo it appears that another one has cropped up. There now seems to be fresh oil (wasn't there yesterday)on the fins of my bov and it's evident that it's sprayed it onto the far side of the cam cover. Am I right in assuming that the seals in the turbo have ...

Re: Fuel Gauge Reading Problems
My fuel gauge only reads above half at any level above half. e.g. If I stick a full tank in gauge reads half. If I stick 3/4 in it still reads half. Once the tank is physically only half full and under it will read less, properly. However, it won't read on empty once I'm on empty. I actually ran ou...

Ok thanks guys Motec seems to be the one I might go for... but before I jump the gun I will let rstunning one more chance to get this right with their ecu. I would not give anyone a second chance, if they cannot get it right the first time why will they a second time. I have a friend that had two e...

Re: Mixing tyres F+R (deliberately)
Beginning to think that the front end of an MR2 is always going to feel a bit unstable, just due to the lack of weight over the front.. No, not at all. We have removed every bit of weight including the big steel bumper bar from our sprint cars and they corner like on rails. It is all down to the se...

The ecu is very clever and learns and adjusts to suit fuel, boost etc. but does take time so may be a number of days till it gets better.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] No power on boost
Ive got no fault codes Its a ct20b, what price would a rebuild be on it and what kind of turnaround time Thanks I would need to see it to see how bad it is, but if it was just bearings and seals I would say around £300 to £350. Time would be about a week or just over depending on the parts needed.

Check for any fault codes.
You could also reset the ecu and let it learn again.
