They do make a difference, the front end just feels a bit more floaty without them

That pretty much covers it, the top edge is clipped but there quite robust I've never broke one they just pull out

Its screwed to the back of the dash so would have been fitted before the dash was fitted.
The dash doesn't take long to remove 30 minutes or so and is probably the easiest option

As you can turn the key remove the barrel from the car, you should then be able to carefully dismantle it to get access to the broken bit

Chin up mate it's a minor niggle, I'd leave looking for the issue until you've got the bung fitted that may solve it, other wise it may just be a bolt needing nipped up

It'll be fine for a few minutes. Jubilee or mikalor clamps will be fine on the hoses

It bogging down with the oil cap open is perfectly normal, your introducing loads of unmetered air after the afm. First and cheapest option to try is to replace the coolant cap,there cheap even from halfords and I've seen a few die as there getting older. The gauge rising at idle also isn't unusual ...

Good work mark nearly there. I'd build it up on a bench and get some spare hands to lift it in but first I'd dry fit just the manifold without gasket to get the stud in the final position

How long has it been standing? Did you just run it upto temperature by leaving it running parked up? Due to it's design the exhaust can hold a lot of moisture when not in use which can take quite a while to burn off if just starting and leaving it running. A rev 1 would do it aswell, basically if your car has an airflow meter as it relies on there being a constant amount that it has measured
