Re: Glenn's REV3 ST215, Dynoed @315 hp & 390 Nm!
Compressors don't just stall, the fluttering sound is definately the wastegate wanting to close when I lift off. You can also hear it when I drive really slowly. You can actually hear the difference in the car, first you hear the wastegate slam (a few times) and then the blowoff hisses. On partial l...

Re: Glenn's REV3 ST215, Dynoed @315 hp & 390 Nm!
Thanks,
it's not just the blowoff, it's the overactive gen4 wastegate as well.
And there are 2 MR2's in this season's time attack, both running a gen4

Re: Glenn's REV3 ST215, Dynoed @315 hp & 390 Nm!
I finished the car over the summer holiday and got it MOT'ed. Last sunday, I raced it in the Dutch Time Attack series. Eventhough the car needs a lot of finetuning (suspension is set completely random for example), it runs very fast and gave me a good time. Here is a youtube movie of the first view ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Booster/Vacuum issue
I didn't replace it, the previous owner of my car just ripped everything out.
Colour? Just black rubber, nothing fancy.
So do you know where this valve should be located? I have the big brakes..

[Mk2] [Turbo] Booster/Vacuum issue
When I drive my car on full boost and then rapidly hit the brakes, it is as if my booster is not functioning and my brake pedal is really hard. After a few seconds, the pedal softens and my brake pressure comes back. I've heard of a one way valve in the brake booster vacuum lines, but where is it lo...

Re: gen 4 3sgte engine
Mostly sold in Japan. Engines are easily sourcable though.
The swap entails some custom work, making it a no-no for a big population i guess.

Re: gen 4 3sgte engine
I've just finished my st215 swap, you can read about it in my member profile. The engine itself bolts up just like any other 3sgte, but you need to be aware of the following problems: -The engine loom doesn't hook up to the main wire loom of your mr2, this has to be customized (not for the electrica...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rad fans permanently on
I kind of removed everything a/c related so I don't really know which wires we are talking about . I recall seeing an image on here of this modification..

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rad fans permanently on
The fans stay on permanently when the aircon circuit is broken, but how should you loop the circuit for proper functioning fans if you keep the aircon removed?

Is your engine lid a CarBenfibre one? And do you have any readings on temperature differences resulting from this lid?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Brake pedal travel
Bleeding has been done in the correct order So, air in the system is most likely the problem. Could it be possible that the main brake cylinder is faulty? I bled the brakes with a friend and he told me to press the brake pedal while he undid the bleeding nipple in the caliper. I didn't want 'put the...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Brake pedal travel
I recently switched the brake system (booster, master brake cylinder, calipers, brake lines, pads/discs) from my old car to my new one. After bleeding the system, I took the car for a little spin. When I hit the brakes, the pedal travel is huge, but when I depress and press the pedal again quickly, ...

Work on the MR2 continues. In the past couple of days, I: -Fixed my exhaaust (messed up my Apexi N1 in a crash last year) -Made a custom downpipe out of the stock gen4 catalytic converter -Finished the st205 chargecooler setup Pictures: http://i509.photobucket.com/albums/s339/Glenn_k/DSC_0061.jpg ht...

Re: 5S - Second engine rebuild required already!!!
Removing sound deadening is one hell of a job. I did mine in the winter (-10 C) and the stuff just jumped right out at the tap of a hammer, but still took me a full day. Must have been a right b**** at higher temperatures.

Re: Toyspeed´s 5S-GTE MR2 -91
I've heard of this kind of problem before. The guy who had this, turned out to have a electrical mass problem. Maybe you can try to give all the ground wires/connectors a good cleaning.

It's some sort of universal kit I bought off a friend of mine. I'll take pictures of the installation.
But first, study for 2 exams next week. Then it's holiday and i'll have more time to finish the car. Can't wait!

Re: Glenn's REV3 ST215, Dynoed @315 hp & 390 Nm!
It certainly isn't easy, and all the credit goes out to my friend who did the same swap on his 91 turbo. He helped me with everything and also arranged the wiring loom to be custom made. Don't be misled by the low pricing of the st215 engines though. If you add all ancillary costs associated with th...

Thanks for the compliment, I do a fair bit of car detailing in my free time. I never let a chance go to get my black 2 shiny.
