Re: Battery terminal quick release.

I use an identical one on my MK1A. Quick release also left over from previous camper van. I sprayed it black & disconnect the battery every time I garage the car. I know someone who had an electrical fire in an old car in their garage & have always disconnected my battery since. Might be ove...

243mm front, 240mm rear :thumleft: http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/brake-discs-final.php?year=1985&Submit=Next&make=Toyota&model=MR2&sub=&eng=1.6000 I'd measure the fronts though, just in case someone's put the later spec brakes on the car. Disks from buypartsby.co.uk are a lot chea...

Re: ebcbrakesdirect - are they OK

Thanks for the replies. Will give my local motorfactors a go first. They're for easy road use so non branded will do. Any idea on the diameter of the disks for the MK1A. I think the front are 143mm.

Thanks,

Tim

ebcbrakesdirect - are they OK

Hi Akk,

I need to get 4 brake disks for my MK1A. I've come across ebcbrakesdirect.co.uk & the price is not too bad including postage to Southern Ireland. Has anyone dealt with them & had goor or bad experiences.

Re: Sunroof drain pipes & door hinge query

My mechanic friend told me he used to use a clevis pin to repair the hinge. I thought they would fall out but he says he never had any problem using them.

Re: Sunroof drain pipes & door hinge query

Must talk to a mechanic friend over the weekend. I know he had a bodge/fix 20 years ago with Corolla Doors. He used to cut the pin in half with a hacksaw, remove the pin & insert something larger to replace the pin. Can't remember what he used to use - think it looked liked those express anchors...

Re: Sunroof drain pipes & door hinge query

Thanks, MartG

I saw those grommets. Not a brilliant Toyota idea draining into the sill. If I spray the inside of the sitt with Waxoyl, it will probably block them or at least stop the water leaving even it I clear them after.

Sunroof drain pipes & door hinge query

Hi All, I've just taken off the driver's side wing & door on my MK1A to sort some rust at the bottom of the A-pillar. Delighted to see that the outer skin was rotten but after grinding off the rusty bits, the inner skin is rock solid. Just looking at the sunroof drain tube, where does it exit or...

Re: Full respray???

I used an aerosol to spray the rear left side arch & the finish was reasonable & match pretty good. Was Ok for over the past 18 months until I recently overfilled the petrol & the splash out discoloured some of my repair. Turned it white.

Update

Got a new rad cap & cap for expansion bottle (robbery ftom Mr T). Bled the system & started the car. I think (hope) there may be something wrong with the guage. The needle came up to half way within a minute & then to the red a few minutes later before the coolant got really hot. Once th...

Re: Could it be the rad cap?

Thanks, Paul

Will fit new rad cap & new cap for expansion bottle & bleed it. Not sure what caused the water to fill the bottle & not go back. Has been perfect for the past two years in that department. Hope the bleed sorts it.

Thanks,

Tim

Re: Could it be the rad cap?

Cap on the expansion bottle is definitely the correct way around. Could I have caused some type of air-lock by taking out the bottle to clean?.

Going to get a rad cap from Mr T today. Might as well get the cap for the expansion bottle as well eventhough it looks perfect.

Could it be the rad cap?

Hi All, Took the MR2 for a spin last evening & the temp gauge went up to the edge of the red. Before I set off, I noticed the level in the expansion bottle was about 1 inch above the max. Had it for a 120 mile spin 2 weeks ago so must have gone up then. I had the bottle out to clean over the win...
