Re: Overheating issue - Airlock?

Thanks for the replies.

I bled the system over the weekend. Was a good bit of air in it. Think it's all out now. No gurgling to be heard.

Went for a spin last evening and temp gauge sat just below normal. Heat never rose. Hopefully solved.

Thanks for the help,

T.

Re: Overheating issue - Airlock?

Update - I removed to filler cap this morn & there was a large "burp" from it. Coolant looks low looking in thru' filler. Must get some coolant.

Anyone got any suggestions. Bleed the system?.

Overheating issue - Airlock?

Hi All, I've my MK1A for 10 years now & have changed the coolant a number of years ago with no issues. Yesterday I was driving to a show. Weather was very hot. After about 50 miles the temp gauge shot up into the red having been sitting in the middle for all the journey up to that. I quickly pul...

What brake fluid?.

Hi all, I pulled out my MK1A for a spin today & all went well except the brake pedal which is very spongy.Car has been under covers in the garage for most of the winter. Pumping the brakes improves the brake pedal. Guess I'd better bleed the brakes & check sliders. Last time I replaced the b...

Re: Rear arches repair , the datsun method

Hi Paul,

Can you remember what year Cherry the panels are for or was there only one Datsun Cherry. Must check with my local motor factors to see if they are still available.

Throttle query

Hi All, Has anyone had a similar issue with the MR2. My friends daughter bought a very clean Toyota Corolla Twin Cam but is having the following issue. I haven't seen it happen but he relayed it to me on the phone last night. The car ticks over perfectly but when driving the revs are all over the pl...

Re: Decent MK1A brakes finally - Thanks Paul (PW@Woodsport)

With the spacer behind the Servo, The pipes almost lined up with the MC. Very little bending required. Just some pressure between thumb & forefinger. Don't tighten the Master cylinder to the Servo until you've threaded the pipe connectors into the MC first.

Decent MK1A brakes finally - Thanks Paul (PW@Woodsport)

A big thank you, Paul, for helping me sort my brakes. I've had the MK1A for 8 years now but never had a decent brake pedal or stopping power. 2 weeks ago the master cylinder started leaking & I couldn't get a seal kit or a new MC - both discontinued by Mr T. Paul suggested getting a MK1B servo &...

Re: MK1A brake master cylinder leaking - Options?

Now have MK2 master cylinder & MK1B servo.

Before I connect everything up, is it worth gutting the brake bias valve.

Don't think it was giving any issues but I do see that some people gut the bias valve.

many Thanks,

Tim

Re: MK1A brake master cylinder leaking - Options?

Thanks Paul, Just ordered that master cylinder. Will have to make up connection for warning light. Should be able to get a servo locally. This started be thinking about spares availability. Looks like we will be soon depending on work-arounds to keep the MK1 on the road. I'm sure other parts have be...

MK1A brake master cylinder leaking - Options?

Hi All, The master cylinder in my MK1A started leaking. Called to my local Toyota dealer this morning & neither the seal kit nor the complete master cylinder are available – both discontinued. What are my options. I seem to remember that Paul Woods found a solution by fitting master cylinder fro...

Pics are very poor. Hard to know how rough it really is. For that price its probably not great.

First MR2 I've seen without a sunroof

Hi all,

Spotted this MK1A for sale in Ireland. Only one I've ever seen without a sunroof. Must be an early MK1A. Left hand drive.

Some work , Imram. Fantastic stuff.

Curious about the ramps. They give great access underneath the car. Do they jack up after you drive the car up onto them.

Re: Patchy red paint on MR2 after rain

Alan & Rob, Thanks for the replies. Car isn't lacquered as you say Rob. I was trying every product I have in the garage last week & came across a bottle of Methylated spirits. I usually use this for cleaning before I spray a small item. Anyway, I tried it on one small section near the engine...
