Re: Noob question about coilovers and adjustable top mounts
Hi Karl, I've just fitted some Tein coilovers to mine, first set of coilovers I've had too. It all starts to make more sense when you fit them but basically the ride height is adjusted by adjusting the nuts at the bottom of the strut. Screw them down to lower the car, up to raise. Just count the thr...

Re: How to tighten the centre nut on tien super streets?
Right, well it wasn't me being thick for once! Having stripped the struts I've found that the nuts centre nuts weren't the correct ones! They were running out of thread before tightening the collar below them. A quick 5mm machined off the nuts and the knocking has gone!

Re: Mr2 Turbo-speedo question??
I can confirm that it's not an MOT requirement for the speedo to work. Funnily enough I'm about to spend my day investigating my speedo which hasn't worked in two years!

Re: How to tighten the centre nut on tien super streets?
Hi Tim, thank you for replying but the Tein Superstreets have no allen key as they have the dampening adjustement knob on the top of the strut. I've done a bit more research and have been told that an air gun when the car is on it's wheels will be better than a normal socket and won't turn the pisto...

How to tighten the centre nut on tien super streets?
I've probably searched through a hundred posts on suspension knocking and fitting but can't find what I'm after. I've fitted a set of second hand tein superstreets and have identified one of the knocking noises (yes I think there's more than one #-o ) as play on the top nut on one of the struts. Bas...

Re: Correct fitment of Tein topmounts
Thanks guys, I spent today fitting the rears and adjusting all 4 so at least they look as though the camber is symetrical. Will have a proper alignment done asap. The knobs in the top of the strut are definetly for adjusting the dampers and as already mentioned you are not supposed to turn them more...

Correct fitment of Tein topmounts
Hi All, Just a quick question for anyone who has fitted Tien coilovers with pillow ball top mounts. I fitted a set today and the camber is very positive i.e. top of the wheel sticks out more than the bottom. The height was already adjusted when I bought them and I haven't played with them yet but it...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Crossover box damage
For some reason it's more cmmon for the drivers door to leak water. vaseline on the terminals will protect them from oxadising but a sandwich bag will probably fill with condensation if it's sealed. Prehaps place the bag over the crossover but leave the bottom opened for any water or condensation to...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] central locking
Hi Dicky, There's a connector on the rear of the lock barrel which has a copper slider and it just wears out over the years. I just replaced mine a few weeks ago (about £25 each door) It's okay until some day the pass side one packs up too and then your alarm goes off, but more importantly the immob...

It's the belt slipping, I don't know how tight an alternator belt should be but it shouldn't squeel.

[Mk2] [Generic] Aftermarket wheels and standard nuts
Okay, I've just bought a set of used Rota D1s on here and they were delivered today. Before I get too excited about fitting them tomorrow, does anyone know if they'll fit with standard wheel nuts?
Just a thought

Re: water temp question??
Hi Dave, it's more than likely that your thermostat has packed up and is stuck in the open position.
I'm having the same problem at the moment. It's a fairly easy job to replace, just a bu88er to make sure you don't get any airlocks in the system whn you refill it.

Low rise headlamps

I thought I saw some MR2's using these (or I'm totally wrong here ), to make the headlights like half-rise.
Sorry but these are only main beam driving lamps, not main/dip beam headlights.
