Re: [Mk2] [NA] rear brake pad replacement
I just changed the discs and pads on my rev 3. I used an open ended spanner to wind the piston back in. It was quite stiff to break free but once it moved it went back fine. One of my slider bolts had seized so i changed that as well. Make sure they're ok on your car. You can check the tension in th...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Oil Leak between driveshaft and Gearbox
It's probably your driveshaft oil seal. You have to take the driveshaft out to change it. It's only a little rubber seal, can't imagine they cost much. You might want to take the tranmission plate off to change it, in which case you'll need some instant gasket. Only about 6 bolts to take off though,...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Help! smoke and rubber burning smell
It could be oil shooting out your BOV, happened to me, 3 cracked ringlands! Why would this smell like burning rubber??!!  Every oil leak from an MR2 does not mean fried pistons or a bu88ered engine!!! Stop making him worry!! That's worst case but it happened to me! Oil shooting o...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo oil leak/gasket
Hello mate, i have two spare gaskets from when i got my ct20 rebuilt as i also got a set with my engine gasket kit. They're both the same as one is for the blanking cap opposite the oil feed. If you paypal me a couple of quid i can post you them tomorrow. The oil feed pipe is attached at the turbo w...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Timing belt tensioner, how to adjust properly on a rev 3?
I'm trying to set the tensioner up on my rev 3. In the BGB it says to place a 1.9mm feeler gauge between the tensioner body and the number 1 idler pulley stop. In the picture the idler stop has a chunk sticking out the top, but on mine it doesn't have this, it's just totally flat. The tensioner pin ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] done a search no joy headgasket pic instructions
Look in the BGB.
It will be a big job.
Only 10 bolts holding the head on but you'll have to take off all the stuff attached to it.
You'll need a torque wrench, new head bolts and a lot of patience.
You also need to wonder about why it's blown, you should really check for warpage etc.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Crunching 3rd. solutions?
It does sound like the synchro, the faster you shift the more stress it gets put under. I had a similar problem on my old civic, 3rd and 5th would crunch when i shifted quickly. Changing the gear box oil made a huge difference to me, pretty much completely got rid of the problem. The only gear which...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Valve stem seals, which way round?
I've looked all through the rev 3 supplement and it mentions nothing about the seals, or the valves for that matter! It only gets as far as the shims. I'm sure they changed the colour on the rev 3 as the original seals are also green and grey! Cheers Ryan, it would be great if you get a chance check...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] changing water pump
It's a lot of hard work, similar to doing the timing belt in the car.
It's easy when the engine is out of the car though ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Valve stem seals, which way round?
Well.. after the overwhelming response (guess no one could remember!) I looked real carefully at the olds ones and the black ones as expected have more oil burnt onto them, so i figured they must be exhaust. I was also thinking because the exhaust valves have a greater gap in the stem than the intak...

I've ordered parts from him on two occasions now and he usually emails back within an hour or two! First one was a replacement dipstick which arrived within a day and the second lot was a full engine gasket kit and a couple of other bits which took a couple days to arrive as they had be ordered. Com...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Valve stem seals, which way round?
I've dug the old ones out the bin and they're exactly the same so this must be a rev 3 thing.
I looked in the rev 3 engine supplement and no mention of the valves!
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Come on people, someone must have changed these on a rev 3+!

[Mk2] [Turbo] Valve stem seals, which way round?
Just before i fit these i thought i better check. Afaik the black/grey seals are for the exhaust and the brown one is the inlet. ...but in my genuine toyota gasket kit i have green and black/grey I presume the green is inlet but just wanted to double check!
