Re: Suspension overhall - where to buy parts?
No need to change hubs. Just hydro press new bearings in. Few places I use for parts are Camskill Import car parts Local Motor factors (Part Co etc) Dont discount the local motor factors as although the above internet stores are good, often parts can be had cheaper locally (no postage and haggling f...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Gearbox/driveshaft issues maybe? Expert advice required
Well When I bought the car it used to knock on slow junctions so I swapped the box oil with 80w 90 cheap stuff as a test and it cleared it up. Recently I changed the oil for 75W90 Valvoline dura blend and seemed ok but only drove about 30miles. Did the clutch change and took out for a test drive and...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Gearbox/driveshaft issues maybe? Expert advice required
Cheers for the replies and hope everyone else got there drive shaft issues sorted! Mine turned out to be wrong choice of box oil of all things! I have a TRD LSD and put some 75w 90 Valvoline oil in it. Peter from SBits diagnosed and provided some different oil and it worked a treat no knocks or skip...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Locking wheel nut key sheared
Few options I can think of but will all depend on the locking wheel nut and design of wheels for access. I would probably drill a series of holes on the nut (being careful not to drill into the stud) and then split with a sharp chisel. Or you could have a socket welded onto the nut and use that to t...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] bc coilovers
Not familiar with these specific coilovers but usually you just turn the height adjusting collar with a c spanner to set height? You should get way more than 10mm. Are you just adjusting the damping and not the height?

Re: Tyre pressures
I always start round about 30psi front and 32psi rear. After this, alot is going to depend on your preference/brand of tyre etc. Just have a play increasing/decreasing round them pressures until it feels right to you.

If indoubt get in touch with Pete as his advice saved me from buying a new gearbox. Instead all it cost was 4l of very reasonably priced oil which was on my doorstep th...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] mk 2(na)oil light staying on
N/as have a oil level sensor on the side of the sump and are notorious for failing. 2 fixes really, get one 2nd hand and swap next time you do an oil change (new ones are v. expensive) or disconect the plug and bridge the 2 terminals together with some wire. This will stop the light from coming on b...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] How to setup Ohlin struts, damper wise?? wheel hop!! And CV cage??
Unfortunatly not mate as mine didnt do bu88er all! The way I tackled it was click them all the way (either clockwise or anti) count the clicks all the way to the other lock. Take it out for a drive on the first setting (should feel if the rebound is harder or softer then flick em all the way over in...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] How to setup Ohlin struts, damper wise?? wheel hop!! And CV cage??
I had ohlins fixed height struts with adjustable damping on mine when bought it. I tried everything to soften them up as they were so stiff. If I remember there was about 26 clicks on them. Mine were probably faulty as although they turned freely it just didnt seem to make any noticable difference n...

Im running stock brakes and dust shields fine mate. My old man watched as I moved it and the wheel physically skips and you can feel it shudder. Its so annoying, first few nice days where could be going for a drive!

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Gearbox/driveshaft issues maybe? Expert advice required
Took driveshaft out today, all bearings feel to be correct and intact. Bolted all back together and same problem! So now looks like Im gonna have to get the car trailored to a specialist unless anyone can offer anymore suggestions???

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Fitting drop links
You will need to remove the wheel tbh. Basically you will want to give them a good soak in WD40 as they get real corroded. You need to use a allen key (if there originals) and a ring spanner to remove otherwise they will just spin (it will all become obviouse when you get down there). Hopefully they...

Re: Oils and fluids
You can use same fluid for clutch as brakes. Coolant wise, most people swear by toyota 4life but it is quite expensive. I have never had any issues using any coolant designed for aluminium engines. For your LSD, If it is a stock one it is pre oiled and sealed so you cannot change this. You can howev...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Gearbox/driveshaft issues maybe? Expert advice required
Hi, its the passenger rear and its the same box so all should be good there. Engine revs and clutch dont seem to affect at all, both seem fine, its just when driving under load. The driveshaft is pretty well in but you can pull it in and out a small amount by hand so its leading me to believe the su...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Gearbox/driveshaft issues maybe? Expert advice required
update: I have had a quick look in the light and I am not sure the driveshaft is in 100%. It looks ok but there is about a 1 cm gap that can be pushed in and out at the box. I remember when pulling the shaft it was tight and had to be levered out. Does this sound like the culprit? I originally had t...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Gearbox/driveshaft issues maybe? Expert advice required
Ive just finished putting in my new clutch and flywheel and took the car out for a drive. After a bit of pedal adjustment everything was fine and drove really nice. I went to drive her yesterday and its making a horrible dragging clunking noise from the rear passenger wheel area. It only appears to ...
