Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Tyre choice for 17inch rims. Could you post pics of your tyres/rims?

im sa huge fan of the Falken 452s.
they seem pretty durable and also give good grip in both wet and dry for a reasonable price. They also have a V-pattern tread.
If I were you I'd be looking at those...
Not sure what sizes to go for on those rims though. I have 235s on an 8 inch rim.

Re: MR2 car cover

That's pretty much what I figured so bought the Monsoon one in the end. I don't like paying more for no good reason but it did seem that there was a lot more quality on offer for the price. I can't see me selling the car for years (if ever) and if I'm going to keep it for a long time then £150 isn't...

MR2 car cover

Has anyone got one? Where from and is it any good. I'm fd up of having my car cr@pped on all the time while it's sat in the car park without an engine. I must have washed it 3-4 times since I last drove it now. grrr I had a quick look and there is a £35 pound one at Halfords, or a £135 one at covery...

yeah I got the X1 :)
I think it's great. Really fun to drive but it's so fast that I ended up breaking my steering wheel by trying to turn it too quickly!

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] JE & CP piston compressio ratios?

My CPs are meant to be 8.5:1 but I don't know about the JEs as I bought the engine already built...

I think I'll just have to double check my calcs and go from there.

Cheers,

[Mk2] [Turbo] JE & CP piston compressio ratios?

Does anyone know how CP pistons compare to JE pistons with respect to compression ratio? I had JE in my old engine and measured the combustion chamber volumes when I stripped it (mainly for information), but having now repeated the process with my new engine build (CP pistons) I'm finding that the C...

[Mk2] [Turbo] gasket set part number

Dos anyone know what the full engine gasket set part number is for a rev1? I've just been sold a rev3 version by Toyota. The seem to balls it up somehow every time I buy anything. #-o I figured if I can ask directly for the part number then they might have half a chance of getting me something that ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] rev 1 gear box to rev 3 what do i need?

I've fitted a rev4 box to my rev1. Both boxes were for tubbies though so I don't know if it's exactly the same for na? All I really had to change were the driveshafts. The new box had an lsd and needed different shafts but other than that it was pretty straight forward. I think the speedo drive carr...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] HKS 264 cam specs - How to set them

Those are the cams I have and they're set to 103/110.
I've got the spec sheet somewhere in the garage. It's all in japanese but the numbers are still there to see.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Nightmare Bottom Pulley Bolt!

if the engine is still in the car then get a long-ish ratchet or breaker bar on there and rest it against the floor so it can't move, then flick the starter motor and it will undo itself. :thumleft:
If it's already out of the car then it can be a real pain.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Help 2000rpm idle, battery light and exhaust temp warning light on

maybe its just my comp but i cant see any picture...

Those dash lights all indicate alternator has stopped working though so at a guess I'd say the earth wire is something to do with that.

I like the sound of that. I'll give it a go when I get my new engine built up and fitted. Who knows when that'll be though...

Have you actually tried that or is it just an idea at this stage?

Re: Sky Insurance - Yet Again

Couldn't agree more. They just sorted me out for insurance on an mx5 as well as my 2.
Elephant and Admiral were more than twice the price! Only A.Flux came close but I'd rather stick with Sky as they've treated me well all along :thumleft:

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] clutch master cylinder

Just stick with it. I've bled mine twice now and both times it was a case of getting in the footwell and forcing the pedal down, and then back up again. I tried a pressure bleed kit at one point but it was useless and just filled the frunk with brake fluid  It takes a long time but it does see...

[All] [Generic] chemical dipping engine components

Does anyone know of anywhere (preferably in the midlands) that can do this?

I have a 2nd hand block that I want to get cleaned out properly before building the engine but I want to clean out the water jackets too so can't do it at home.

Cheers,

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] From bad to worse...New block needed

Yeah I think the 5s blocks were only ever sold in the states and japan.
I'm trying to find one at the moment but it's a lot harder than finding a 3s-gte. I guess they were imported in a lot higher numbers.
