Re: mk2 brake master cylinder upgrade

Oh no! I'm slowly losing brake fluid! I've ordered this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-MR2-MK2-Gen2-Revision2-to-Revision5-Brake-Master-Cylinder-none-abs/273152208869?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908103841%26meid%3D0dd0e678ca634132be54cb6b426fb7ed%26pid%3D100227...

Re: 6 speed LSD Mk1 gearbox build

Thanks Paul

Happy to post one up if you've got a car that'd benefit, I've lost track of what personal cars you're running.

Re: 6 speed LSD Mk1 gearbox build

Cheers Chris

Got to love the 6 speed, I'd rather have a 4-age with a 6 speed than my 2zz with a 5 speed

Had to order 9 so they're available but I don't know if I can advertise them here. You can find them if you know where to look.

Another summer

Just put my 2zz conversion back on the road for the summer, only done about 30 miles so far but driving through the tunnels of Birmingham last night made me want to thank Mr Woods again for a job well done. I'd spent the winter driving a mk3 and an I800 and thinking that they were good and I didn't ...

Re: LSD - significant benefits on a NA?

I just thought that we'd moved a long way from the question posed to the specific handling of my car. I'd agree that if you floor it once the car's taken a set then you can easily switch the car into oversteer and drift the corner. This however is not the fastest way around a corner. The slow progre...

Re: LSD - significant benefits on a NA?

I feel this thread has been well and truly hijacked.

Ian hope you're car's going well. Would be good to meet up again soon. See if my Mk3 keeps up with you 1MZ. :D

Re: LSD - significant benefits on a NA?

After 9 years I'm pretty used to the handling of a Mk1 by now and Ian Clements will confirm I can make full use of all grip in the corners. Maybe there's something funny with mine but really I think I'm just being super critical. The effect is small but still noticeable Good to know the SMT has a LS...

Re: LSD - significant benefits on a NA?

Hi Paul I don't want to hijack the thread..... I've TRD settings on the front and standard on the back. the same effect is apparent in Mark's car. It is small but it's there. I've an SMT mk3 at present and it doesn't have the same impact there, though I'm not sure if the SMTs have an LSD. It's not a...

Re: LSD - significant benefits on a NA?

Paul the down side of the LSD for me is the way it alters the car's handling when applying power in bends, there's a tendency to plough straight on. I feel in good conditions I can't hit the fast pedal as soon in a bend with the LSD as I could without it. with the 2zz it's a compromise I'm willing t...

Re: LSD - significant benefits on a NA?

By no means does Quaife or torsen give power to the inside wheel. The idea is that it biases torque of the wheel with less torque (inside) and adds it to the wheel with more torque (outside) under uneven torque distribution (weight transfer during cornering). In the case when the vehicle is turning...

Re: LSD - significant benefits on a NA?

The dif is there to allow the wheels to spin at different speed round corners. My LSD gives the car a desire to understeer when applying power in bends. It's quite subtle but it's there. Lift off and the car turns in, power and it goes straight(er) Paul's 6 speed box would be a good upgrade though I...

No.

It'd help in the snow and that'd be about it.
