Anglesey race meeting weekend 29th / 30th May
I have driven Anglesey loads of times (both the old track and the new tracks) not always getting it right...... (This is the left hander leading onto the new pits straight, I am facing the pitwall!  ) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/icsunonove/Anglesey%20June%202007...

Re: Changing a crankshaft without removing the whole engine
Stupidity really :( I had the engine to bits last year (after I melted a piston) but really didn't want to spend a fortune on it. I plastigauged the big end bearings and they were just in tolerance and so I put them back ](*,) But the big end bearings are the weak point of the 4AGZE engine and runni...

Re: Changing a crankshaft without removing the whole engine
The oil flows from the crankshaft into the big end bearing and then into the sump and through the filtration system. Therefore it should be fine with regards to that.

Re: Changing a crankshaft without removing the whole engine
Yes, possibly. If that's the case and the head needs to come off then I may as well take the engine out

Yes.

Yes, unless there's some reason (that I can't think of) why you can't do it that way.

Re: Changing a crankshaft without removing the whole engine
Hmmm.... It's just with all the extra gubbins of the Supercharged engine it's a pita  Getting the crankshaft end seal off won't be a problem once the gearbox, clutch and flywheel are off. The oil pump doesn't need to come off the end of the crankshaft, I just need to get it off it's dowel...

Changing a crankshaft without removing the whole engine
I have damaged my engine at Angelsey and need to change the crankshaft.
Can anyone think of any reasons why I can't do this without removing the entire engine out of the car?
Has anyone done this before?
Thanks in advance for any replies...

An event I would not recommend at all due to the presence of some utter tosspots from a car audio company attending with a transit van claimed to be the loudest and deepest audio bass demo in the world, running at 155dB Despite numerous complaints to the organisers, no action was taken against these...

Just picked up on this thread.. Or: break the car completely. What??  I know this car really well and there's no way on earth it should be broken. It's a really really good car and really quick. :thumleft: I'm simply amazed this car hasn't sold yet at this price :?
