Re: mk1 head gasket replacement work

Blimey Paul, that is a good price!

How much would it be for a Supercharger?

Can't we clone you and have a Paul Woods Mk.2 somewhere in the midlands? Are there any specialists in the midlands?

Re: mk1 head gasket replacement work

Hi Steven, Here are the prices for my rebuild for what it's worth. (Mine is an SC so check parts numbers) By the way the gasket set for the cylinder head is actually more expensive than the gasket set for the whole engine! Bizarre! DO NOT chance using old head bolts. I was going to reuse min...

Speciailist Mk1 garage south of Durham?

Ok, I know all about Paul Woods and his mental Mk1.5's

Is there an AW11 specialist south of him?

I am not talking London, I am talking Midlands!

Re: IMOC Trackday- Q&A + places available/for sale

John, Really hoping you can get the Mk1.5 ready for the trackday. I am really interested to see how it goes with that huge motor in it. There's a 3S-GTE turbo engine on the floor at my local scrapyard. It's huge! I really can't see how it will fit in a Mk1 (but I know it does). I think the engine ba...

Re: Gearbox for Mk1 supercharger

Firstly I think you will be lucky to find an E51 replacement gearbox (I know I am looking for one - mine has started whining) Your problem could be as simple as a bent selector arm. If that's all it is it looks an easy job to change it. Wear on synchro rings can be really difficult to see / measure ...

It looks absolutely lovely. It's not been messed with at all. It's done a fair few miles though....

Re: Supercharged MK1's - what to look for ?

Patrick, You're in the right area of the country for Superchargers :D There is one in North Wales and two in Macclesfield (forum members I mean). There are also 3 in South Wales. I am sure one of them will be along in a minute. As for price, depends on what you want. Manual gearbox ones are more sor...

Re: Please help - can anyone supply a cat temp sensor bung ?

Hi Frank, I'm not a Mk2 owner, but I'll have to do! The answer is almost certainly yes. But you'll have to take it off and measure the thread outside diameter and pitch. Also check whether the thread is taper or not. It's likely to be metric fine or JIS (I guess). Luckily JIS is interchangeable with...

Ok, no probs. Don't know anything about the Mk2 or its engine to be honest.

Do you think you will be ready for the trackday, or is it too early to tell? Tom

No problem, see you there! Tom

(P.S Can I book a couple of laps as a passenger in your car? Never been in a Mk.2)

Re: [mk1] Anti roll bar

As Crazylegs says, dead easy. You can also fit the rear one from a Mk2 if you want (but sizes vary from 18mm-22mm). I've just fitted an 18mm Mk2 rear bar to mine. Some people think it may be too big (including Lauren who knows a lot about handling). Haven't tried it yet, so can't comment, engine nee...

Re: IMOC Trackday- Q&A + places available/for sale

Yes you can edit your car and your driver. I am pretty sure you can phone them nearer the time after you have confirmed helmet sizes required (just get someone to stick a tape measure round your head and measure the circumference at the biggest bit)

Best regards,

Tom

Re: IMOC Trackday- Q&A + places available/for sale

You're not kidding Chris, this is a long way. I would gladly put you up (and it's on your way) but unfortunately I won't be here in Derby. I will be staying with friends parents in Dunnington, very close to Elvington. I have already been a bit cheeky asking as they only have a small bungalow and I'm...

Re: Track Car

I think you can have as much fun in any car, no matter how fast or slow it is. Trackdays aren't races, it's just you and the car. There is as much fun getting a Mk1 round a track as fast as possible as say using a Caterfield with 200hp. I know someone who raced Citroen 2CV's for Christ's sake. I did...

Re: IMOC Trackday- Q&A + places available/for sale

Blimey Lauren, Looks like mine will be the least powerful car there. Can you make it nice and twisty so I can keep up? :D Or else I'll have to fit some big wing mirrors like you use for towing caravans. Seriously though - come on people. It's great fun and this is the cheapest trackday you c...

John,

Please, please, please come to the trackday. If I wasn't so skint I'd pay it for you! Really want to see a Mk1.5 on the track...

Am sort of tempted myself on doing a Mk1.5 conversion, but also have plans on twincharging....

Neil, haven't read the previous few posts, do you still need 86mm pistons? If you do, looks like it's your lucky day
