Re: Head Gasket or Rings or something else?
TBH this engine thrown together as a stopgap before fitting the 4AGZE or 4AGTE. It was a gamble and nothing was checked properly and that's the way Lauren had to do it at the time. There was no time or money to do anything else. It might have failed immediately but luckily it didn't and has done a l...

Re: Anglesey GP £200 with BaT. Saturday 7th April
Great to see everyone yesterday  :D Must admit though I was desperately missing not having my SC there out on track  Have firmed up on a plan though :+: . Although I would love to build another Mk1.5 I have decided to try something different and will be looking for a roadster with a good s...

If your block will cleanup with an +0.008" overbore, here's a shopping list :

Re: PK_090'S Build/bodge and restore thread!
Alex, a four point 2 inch wide push button release belt is great for road use. Don't go three inch, it's uncomfortable.
As Tim says, aircraft style twist release belts are not road legal.
The only problem with harnesses on the road is that you can't lean forwards at junctions.

Irony - Our Woodbridge Sprint Series Report
Neil (Neil_turbo) was competing in the Sprint Series this last weekend at Woodbridge in Suffolk. I have done a lot of work on this car and decided to go along to see how he got on. It was the first time this car has been out competitively with the 3SGTE fitted so it was a case of taking it sensibly ...

Re: PK_090'S Build/bodge and restore thread!
Alex, I'm really sorry for you that this has happened
As far as the bolts are concerned, I am afraid I really would fit new items. I have seen myself the consequences of using stretch to yield bolts more than once.
Hope you get it fixed and back on the road soon

Re: 4AGZE engine transplant, anyone know of it being done?
You could even build a C series Frankenbox out of a Roadster 6 speed and a Mk1 box so it would be 6 speed as well , i've built many 6 speed hybrid gearboxes this way for the Mk1, so it woul dbe more than doable in the Roadster :thumleft: Paul, can you elaborate on this? I would not want to fit an E...

4AGZE engine transplant, anyone know of it being done?
I've asked on the Roadster forum but got no joy. Does anyone know if anyone has done this transplant and got any information about it?
I know the other upgrade options and my options are all open at the moment but I am interested if someone has done this before.
Thanks in advance,
Tom

Re: PK_090'S Build/bodge and restore thread!
Gasket's upside down Peter Hold on  , I didn't say it was upside down, I just said that the leak was so prevalent that it would suggest so. I don't even know if the gasket fire rings are symmetrical and whether it can be fitted upside down. I believe there is compression on the cylinders so ...

Alex, Good to meet you today but sorry about the circumstances  I have been having a look at old pictures of head gasket swaps I've done to see where the oil drains are. Here is a 4AGE engine (you won't recognise the pistons because it's supercharged - same head and block though). http://...

Neil, I can't confirm at the moment but I would like to see you and Christian competing because as you know I've done a lot of work on both of your cars and it would be nice to see them being used properly! :D If I do come it will be a last minute decision, so I'll make my own travel and accomodatio...

Thought you lived at Loggerheads & Tom at Market Drayton Alex :? I do (part time) live at Loggerheads, I just say Market Drayton because it's unlikely that many will know where Loggerheads is. Alex, I am not in Loggerheads very much at the moment and all my tools are generally not there so if y...

Re: PK_090'S Build/bodge and restore thread!
You can actually get reasonably accurate results doing that :thumleft: But digital verniers are so cheap and abundant nowadays you may as well use one. Alex, as everyone says, remarking TDC with your own timing pointer is not a big issue whattsoever. If you don't have a vernier you can borrow my dep...

The good news is that the block that has been taken out is recoverable with a rebore. I am really glad Lauren didn't continue driving it like that, it w...
