Re: Head Gasket Questions
I'm glad this might be of some help. Please remember it was a few years ago though so prices may have changed somewhat. Three tips off the top of my head: 1) You will need a 12 point 3/8" drive 10mm socket to undo the headbolts 2) Pull the crank pullley off with the extraction holes. 3) Lock th...

Re: Head Gasket Questions
Don't know if this helps at all. It's a post I did a few years ago on another forum. It's a Supercharged one though. Ok, someone asked (cant remember who and didnt want to dig up an old thread) Summary of work done by the engineer: The head was delivered inspected and unassembled with the exceptio...

Re: X19 vs Mk1
Let's face it, neither car is 'pretty', but the X19 is definitely a purer driver's car. Disagree with that. I think the 1300cc X1/9 was a really pretty car. With a proper engine in it (like I had) it made for a simply superb sportscar. The handling was truly mesmeric. The mk1 MR2 is too hea...

Re: X19 vs Mk1
Lol! How did I miss this thread? anyone driven/owned both? Well I've owned three X1/9s and an MR2 Supercharger so I should be able to comment. The X1/9 was a car that Fiat / Lancia never fully developed to it's full potential  In my very humble opinion (don't shoot me down) the X1...

Well it's not my car, ask Si!
I just try and fix it when it is broke
Mind you it's not that bad, I don't mind test driving it to make sure it's working again
Edit: How far's Poynton from Ashton-under-Lyne?

[Mk2] [Turbo] Please help - what's this connector for?
Had a bit of a accident  On a 1.5 the rev 2 engine has a connector that isn't used. Evidently it's been rubbing on the driveshaft and then has been ripped off completely. The car is misfiring at the moment and it may / may not be due the bare ends of these wires. Here's the connector. It's a g...

Well done Nathan!
It was only the last race that I saw but you did make it look way too easy.
You just made a clean get away and then we didn't see you again. Best of luck with the rest off the championship. Do you think you can catch Karl Breeze?

Re: 10 mm bolts
it is worth getting to know and use your local engineers merchants, just never be in a rush because you will stand and wait for ages but the result is quality fittings at trade prices Are you talking about FWB on Whieldon Road Kevin? Top place, top people, top prices, just don't be in a rush!...

Have you secured any more sponsorship recently? Your car looked a bit bare last time out
With the success you're having I would have thought they would come flocking

Re: 10 mm bolts
Just to clarify the MR2 generally uses: M6 x 1 - Metric coarse (standard if you like) M8 x 1.25 - Metric coarse M10 x 1.25 - Metric fine M12 x 1.25 - Metric extra fine (aka constant pitch series) Just look up fasteners or engineering supplies or somesuch on Yell.co.uk. Any good stockist should have ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 2 turbo hesitancy
Seperatly monitor the voltages on the 3 wires coming off the alternator and see if this also fluctuates during the needle bounce and rev. drop. Cheers Lewis, I've rewired the alternator and done 33 miles without a hiccup. It was an intermittent fault so I can't be 100% sure that it's fixed but so f...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 2 turbo hesitancy
Hey Tom, I think I would start with the wiring for the alternator. Seperatly monitor the voltages on the 3 wires coming off the alternator and see if this also fluctuates during the needle bounce and rev. drop. Cheers Lewis, will do :thumleft: Have you stuck a boost contoller on there yet? Lewis. Y...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 2 turbo hesitancy
Thanks for reply Steve, but the problem is concurrent. I.E the hesitancy happens at exactly the same time as the rev counter starts going haywire so the two problems are related
Hi Lewis, yes it is.

[Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 2 turbo hesitancy
Got a problem..... Car idles absolutely fine. Car will run on boost fine. Car sporadically, when on a low throttle will hesitate as if the ignition system periodically shuts down. There are no error codes. The only other symptom when this happens is the rev counter needle bounces around erratically....
