Re: [All] [Generic] compression check - how to protect coil?

if you remove the efi fuse that should prevent the ecu sending any sort of signal to the coil and even the fuel injectors so no danger of bore wash.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Whats this head off please?

u cant tell alot from that photo, you got a rev3 head and thats about it. take some more photos of the combustion chambers and the ports and it should be obvious if something has been done.

if your fitting aftermarket ones i would agree that yes you will need vernier cam pulleys to dial in the cams for your engine spec.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] lumpy idle and oil leak help

if you can clean all the oil away and run it on a ramp you should be able to see after some time.

it sounds like the oil feed to the turbo is leaking.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 4Life coolant, 3 versions... which one is it i need?

rev1 has a drain aswel on the block, then thers the two on the pipes underneath the fuel tank then the drain on the rad.

i would just use a ethylene glycol based coolant and mix to the correct ratio.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Redstuff pads = just dust in the wind?!

i agree with the dust, i am running with red stuff and on my white wheels its a daily job to keep them clean, did notice in the first few hundred miles there was more but prob due to their brake in layer.#

carbons are meant to be very good but can be noisy when cold and lack feel.

just a thought, otherwise its off for a recon.

i think for the rev1 u need rev1 shafts, unless you are installing a lsd then you can use rev2 shafts.

contact the usual affiliates on here and scout the breaker yards, might be worth counting the splines to have some info ready to ask the sellers.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Oil cooler

as long as you get a thermostatic controlled take off plate you should be ok.

try not to make the pipework too long as it puts more stress on your oil pump.

most of the time its ok, usualy makes a difference when its at high revs or high load, since it was only on startup i wouldnt worry.

put a belt on and check how it turns over by hand with the spark plugs out, try to feel for any tight spots.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Unorthodox Underdrive pulleys and belt sizes- just a quicky

depending how much smaller the pulley is you may just be able to adjust the alternator, or just go to a factors with measurements and find one on the shelf
