Re: 5S - Second engine rebuild required already!!!

Been a long time since I've updated this. Something else COVID had an effect on. Huge thanks to Simon at YVS Performance for all his hard work with this one. He had his work cut out fixing all the previous bodges, but still managed to deliver a cracking job!! The difference in the quality of work be...

I have for sale a set of Pauter rods I bought from ATS Racing.
They cost over £1200 to get in the UK now, and mines has only covered around 120 miles light use.

Re: Peter Gidden @ Sbits - TBC

Hoping to have this thread updated very soon. Apologies Admin for the delay. J-1 - with all due respect and as per my PM, you haven't actually provided any detail as to what your complaint is and your original post is over a year old. The recent update doesn't really shed any further light either. ...

Re: Peter Gidden @ Sbits - TBC

Good job no one has held their breath waiting on that. Tell you what though, Peter... You go right ahead and tell your version of the FULL story detailing ALL the issues my car had (including the timing belt issue and the respective invoice that followed) and be VERY clear on which company in...

Re: 5S - Second engine rebuild required already!!!

Brief update: Cylinder head currently removed after my HKS stopper head gasket failed at 1.4 bar after less than 150 miles on the new 5S engine I had built. It was found that the ARP head studs were on at considerably less torque than recommended by ARP.... ](*,) I've decided that I am going to drop...

Re: PETER GIDDEN, the "SPECIALIST". :(

Not read all of this but read it over on MR2OC and can definitely relate to some of your issues, and many more, having had my own experience of Peter Gidden. The amount of bad press on him is profound, and I will be the first to admit that it would almost seem unbelievable the amount of people that ...

Re: 5S - Second engine rebuild required already!!!

Quite telling that the guy never disputes or clarifies any of the claims made about his work on here. He must be aware of the posts. Pete has responded to issues on here in the past. I have to say the anti-Pete brigade do like to whip themselves up into a frenzy at the merest hint of an issue with ...

Re: 5S - Second engine rebuild required already!!!

Choosing Peter to build my engine is undoubtedly the worst mistake I've ever made. I honestly cannot emphasise enough how much I regret picking up the phone to even discuss a 5S build with him back in 2014!! Just nothing but a headache, and ultimately a waste of money. I've seen several other 3S &am...

Massive update coming soon, hopefully.

But for now, engine is having to come out again.
That's all I'm saying on the matter for now.

Speedo not working - any ideas?

Looking for some help if possible... My speedo / rev counter isn’t working anymore. The car has had a new (secondhand) gearbox and TRD LSD installed during the engine rebuild last year, so guessing it could possibly be the speed sensor in the gearbox but my understanding is these don’t often fail? I...

Re: Stock front wheel studs - length??? Mines mysteriously changed size!

Because he's a compulsive liar mate, he's very very good at it and comes across as believable, if one doesn't know him well. As per the studs, he prob doesn't even carry them in stock, he's just trying to cover his ar$e for the theft, and his reasoning as to why he didn't need to steal them I've ex...

Re: Stock front wheel studs - length??? Mines mysteriously changed size!

Can't help with stock length but if you're looking for new long studs that aren't Chinese eBay rubbish then you want ARP studs, part number ARP 100-7715, I've found H-tune to be the cheapest UK source I wonder how the other ones disappeared though? Imagine if they were stolen from your car while yo...

Re: Stock front wheel studs - length??? Mines mysteriously changed size!

Since blowing a piston in 2013, the car has been in a total of 3 places. One of which is our workshop, so we can rule that out straight away as removing wheel studs is something that we haven’t needed to do since installing the longer ones ages ago. Another place the car was only there for a few day...
