Re: Drag Racing Tips

Doing a burnout on road tires is just for show.

Plus, you'll just be heatsoaking your intercooler in time for your run.... so all in all pointless and you need to resist the urge! IMO.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] How To Mod My Rev2 Turbo

Fuel cut on yours is at 13 psi IIRC, so you'll need an FCD to go above it. You can run 1.0 - 1.2 bar ok, but never believe you can run it safely as increasing boost pressure will decrease reliability, but generally it's OK. Keep an eye out on the for sale section and on Ebay as you can pick up FCDs ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Where do i fit boost gauge?

One of the easiest places is the vacuum tube which goes from the inlet manifold to the MAP sensor, or the boost pressure sensor labelled in the bottom right hand corner of the picture (next to the diagnosis connector.

Car Builder Solutions

Been using these guys for a while now, they have just about everything you could need for a car and some really obscure things too which you'd never get hold of anywhere! Also I went to school with Matt who works there so I can vouch for him personally. They are based in the outback of Maidstone so ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] stereo went silent....

What system have you got?? Is it the stock premium sound system or an aftermarket one? I've just removed the entire PSS from mine and there are a shed load of wires all over the place for it! The wires are all in with the main loom behind the dash, then they travekl down the passenger side of the tr...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Bong bonger? - or reminders if you're posh. Stopped working

Bit of an old post I know but I can help out anyone who's having trouble with their bings and their bongs! I've just removed my dash and disconnected the wire to the key reminder. See my post here: http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=121672 If both have stopped working, I would most deinate...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] What's this?

Yes it is. There is one of these plugs on the passenger side too but it only has the one wire. I thought for a while that a wire had pulled out but then figured out that the other wire on the drivers side was connected to the "Key Reminder" unit.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] What's this?

EDIT: Don't listen to my previous advice! Do not cut the red/orange stripe wire! It is the car's way of knowing the door is open so it caused central locking and alarm problems! However, just unplugging the "Key Reminder" is fine. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i320/paullippett/P1010562...

[Mk2] [Generic] What's this?

Ripped my interior out today and having seen this a few times wondered what it was? It's screwed to the lower plastic dash panel below the steering column. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i320/paullippett/P1010554.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i320/paullippett/P1010555.jpg It connects here...

Re: Drag Tyres

It depends on how far you want to go with the tyres. A pair of R888's would be decent. The next step up is some street legel drag tyres but these are serious tyres that are only really useable on the strip. With the power level your going to be at i'd strongly recommend a set of uprated CV joints, ...

Re: Drag Tyres

hopefully in a couple of weeks I'm going to be running 450-500bhp and i want to buy a pair of suitable drag tires. I don't however want to put my driveshafts etc under too much stress (more than they already are!) What tires would you recommend Nathan and where is a good place to buy from? Cheers :m...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev2 to Rev3 Head Conversion *NOW MAPPED*

I don't have my MR2 to hand to look but I'm not sure what you mean about the side vents. I know there are small rubber seals which can be removed at the side of the boot - have you just vented air in through these? Does it really shift that much air at the angles they sit at? Do you think the fans B...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev2 to Rev3 Head Conversion *NOW MAPPED*

nice looking build not to upset you ,but the first thing is why do you have a right angle in your intercooler pipe :-k second where are you getting flow to the intercooler #-o what you would be better doing is cut out the rubber on the side vents to allow air into the boot remove the side carpets i...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev2 to Rev3 Head Conversion *NOW MAPPED*

Intercooler scoop: http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i320/paullippett/P1000006.jpg As you can see it's very well sealed so boot temps aren't high. I'm thinking twin fans on the other side of the IC blowing through and a change of exhaust... but I may wrap it first. Even contemplating CO2 cooling, di...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev2 to Rev3 Head Conversion *NOW MAPPED*

Cheers guys! I'm at work on my iPhone so am limited to what I can do, will stick some pics of the complete set-up in the boot when I get home tonight. It does have a scoop in the boot channeling air through the core and the boot is completely sealed, although some heat is generated from the inductio...
