Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 3 hours to fit head unit? Anyone able to give advice.
3 hours sounds like a long time, but it depends on what's being done. I've done the radio in two Mk2s now - one which had amps and another without. If it is just a new head it should simply be a case of buying the right cable (I got mine from Halfords). There are different cables - if your car has a...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Light weight wheels
Hi all, I'm probably going to look at getting some new wheels soon for my MK2 - 16" or 17", not decided yet. The wheels I have on at the moment are quite heavy - or at least they are a lot heavier than the ones that were on my n/a (also after market). Any suggestions on who do good, light ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Stock Power Amplifier - KaPutt/Dead/Fecked
Well, this weekend I've finally got the time together and plugged the rear shoulder level speakers into the radio bypassing the Toyota AMP. Works superbly! Next weekend just need to plumb the front door speakers in there and tidy up all the additional wiring - but don't forsee any problems there. I'...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Stock Power Amplifier - KaPutt/Dead/Fecked
OK... so this amp problem has me confused, so now I'm thinking of wiring the speakers direct to the head unit (unless anyone thinks I shouldn't). I have 6 speakers I can see... two in the doors, two next to the seatbelts at shoulder level and two low down behind the seats. Presumably the radio only ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Stock Power Amplifier - KaPutt/Dead/Fecked
Ok, I think I've found the amp... there is a surprisingly small box with a big "L" sticker on it which sits under the passenger seatbelt coil. I pulled the plug out the bottom and checked the output on each pin. I am getting a contant 11.X volts from one pin with the ignition both on and o...

What's a 4 AWG cable
- presumably this is to link the negative on the battery to the chassis to give a good earth to anything I earth to the chassis?

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Stock Power Amplifier - KaPutt/Dead/Fecked
grayboy: But that way, isn't your radio on all the time? I wired a line in from the cigarette lighter (which is also on ACC) and this worked - radio came on when the ignition was on. However, there was no sound! Possibly because the amp was getting no power. I'm going to check that this weekend. r01...

I'll have a check of the wires

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Wiring up amp genius needed!!!
Hey all... sounds like there are some knowledgeable people in this discussion who may know why my radio, which is simply installed to the standard MR2 plug (with an adapter of course), would stop working when I turn on the headlights!!! Actually, turning on the headlights stopped it for good - the A...

I've looked up Slick 50 Power Steering Fluid and it's an additive.
How much should I be putting in
(what percentage)?
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Also, where do you drain the fluid?!?

Thanks.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

[Mk2] [NA] Radio Wiring - Strange Headlight Fault
Hi, This weekend I purchased a new radio for my 1995 Mk2 T-Bar due to the CD player in the original finally packing up. New link cables purchased, I plugged the whole lot in and after finding out where two blue cables went (some remote / antenna link) I was in business. Great radio I thought. On a d...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Heavy Steering
Anyone else got any ideas as to why the steering would feel heavier from car to car?
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Does the power steering get tired and need pumps
/ rams replacing?
(do they even have rams!) Would this effect the steering feel?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] BOV Sound
Hey chaps, Yeah, from what I've been reading and researching (and understand from general physics) is that the chatter sound may not actually be a good thing! What I understand is that all this pressure is built up between the turbo and the engine. You lift and the engine effectively shuts off leavi...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Heavy Steering
Hi, I've driven a few MR2s recently (was thinking about trading up for lower mileage) but have realised that my car is actually in better condition than most of the ones for sale... so I'm keeping it! The only problem I have with it really is that the steering feels a little 'detached' from the road...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] BOV Sound
Ahhh, thanks chaps.... I thought maybe the turbo and pressure it produced would have something to do with it as the BOV is just a valve! So it seems I'll have to upgrade my turbo some day too - shame ;-) HKS you say... I've had my eye on one of those... just didn't want to spend the cash and find it...

[Mk2] [Turbo] BOV Sound
Hi all, I'm looking at replacing the BOV on my turbo and am looking for a particular sound... I don't know if you can help! Currently I have a Blitz which produces a loud Pssssssst sound when you lift. I'm looking for something which produces a chatter sound instead - it's more like an oscilating so...
