The MR2 uses external amplifiers and sub-woofer amplifiers and so the installation of a new head unit needs a little more thought than for most cars. You need to provide a little more info. It sounds to me like your external amp/s are not getting the activation signal, perhaps you new head unit is not designed to go with external amps. If your new unit has amplified outputs then you can get adapters to reduce the signal to a level suitable for the amps. I tried that and found it was sh...

First thing I would do is check that you aerial installation has not gone on the blink. Borrow another radio and plug your aerial in to check that it gets better reception or plug in another aerial into your existing radio to see if that makes a difference.
