Re: [Mk2] [NA] Is it worth replacing standard front and rear strut braces with cusco ones??

Braces front and back were with out a doubt the best and noticeable bolt-in mod I ever did.

Mine were Cusco. Cusco or not, one of the best bolt-in mods I ever did.

Re: Battery query (it's been a while)

Personally I would buy whatever you can get locally. Check Mr T prices first. I replaced my battery recently and Merc dealership worked out £40 cheaper than the factors. It used to be similar for Toyota a few years ago.

Re: un-rusting brake disk

I've had a few cars where folks have hammerited those areas and I can vouch how much heat it can take as I tried blow torching it off with little success. Honestly I never saw the point but I'd recommend hammerite (smoothrite) black or silver / grey I guess. One of those few areas where patina looks...

Re: Paint code

Yea I'm kicking myself I never wrote the code down since. I tried Toyota and allsorts to find out but it's not ever been a recorded colour which maybe makes me think now it may have varied through production. But if you look through the RAL chips under non-metallics you may still find a very close m...

Re: No MR2s on the road

There's one yellow rev 1 tubby I se here with a veilside (puke) kit on but worse some panels are painted black. What gets me about this car is recently it's driven by someone quite old -and make no mistake it's quite a rough car. ...However, this car has the strangest exhaust I have ever seen on any...

Re: Speedhut issue

Apart from promo pics this is the first car I ever saw with perfect speedhut dials. In my experience usually they let all the light out on the edges and aren't cut very cleanly round the dials but yours look spot on. Am just staggered you have a good set there. I just gave up on them after a few ret...

Re: MR2 vs MRS

^^^and so they are on other Toyotas, and lots of other makes as well!!! I came from MK2's so I don't like much else. Others I know came from MK1's so they like MK3's not MK2's. I never tried a mk1 (apart from being a passenger) but without a shadow of a doubt the MK2 is the one for me. Never drove a...

Re: Paint code

If it's Aqua Pearl I feel your pain! It took me about 4 years to find a code and I can tell you it's not listed in any auto books, nor is it the same as the general top coat. What I found was a RAL code, it was based on non-mainstream auto paint chips but widely available as an industrial finish e.g...

Re: Anybody had issues with NIPPARTS fuel filter?

I bought nipparts once and didn't get on too well with the parts. Maybe just a one-off but put me off buying since. To be honest your first shot should always be the dealer, if you're looking on-line you could find your closest one easy enough! For service parts sometimes there's no point looking fu...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Terraclean- any good ?

If it's the same kit as they used on the green Jag then I wonder exactly how much they were sponsored to show that kit. When it was brought up years ago it seemed a bit like snake oil. I've never seen the kit in the flesh -come to think of it never heard anyone talk about it in years. Nothing wrong ...

Re: Fog lights

Fogs are only supposed to be used when visibility is 100m or less [fog, heavy rain, firework displays gone wild] and must be turned off when it improves again. We've had pretty grey weather added to with debris / dust fog recently. Some folk use fogs (usually rear) even if vis is 3miles plus, other...

Re: Body Filler Putty

Welding up is better. Otherwise Davids "Isopon" P38 and P40 is good filler. There's also an aluminiumised version of the filler which I used on some custom parts. Not sure if it's much good on steel but for custom work it was very good. U-Pol also do equivalent fillers (and the hardeners a...

It's driving with fogs on when there's no fog that's the fail if I recall (sure a copper told me years ago you're not supposed to have drivers lamps on when the street is lit either but that was a while ago). ...I don't think anyone's checking much these days -too difficult these days though it seem...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rear Cam Setup - Switch?

Can you not fit as DPDT relay off the rear light circuit. From that switch the camera on/off. That way the camera would only be switched on when you're in reverse, doesn't matter then if it overpowers everything and switches on. If you want to flick between take a separate feed from somewhere to the...

Re: The amount of people who think...

Considering how good replicas can look, it's always disappointing when there's stupid shortcuts. There's nothing wrong with bodykitted or kit cars per-se. Having said that I know a few guys with real deals who scrimped also. As long as there's not fake badges put on -I took off fake AMG badges, fake...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Beams Redtop help needed

2-3 months! Most of my cars have been JDM ibcl my BEAMS, MRT have insisted they source from JP rather than the same Euro part unless I insist. Usually stuff from JP is within 1 week, compared to 1-3 days V.O.R. from UK or Belgium. I would push them for parts, the only folk who quote me in weeks is a...

If your in the MR2DC you can often get 10% off at Mr T.

LoL -I always got that asking at the dealership anyway (long after I was DC member). If you don't ask you don't get!
