the leak from the bleed nipple could simply be it needs tightening a bit or a bit of grit has got in the thread and is stopping it seating properly. get your small spanners out and have a look.
a lot of garages will not (or are not allowed? ) make even obvious minor repais or adjustments.

Re: Spongy Pedal and Poor Brakes
the brakes in the mk1 do have a bit of travel but should not be spongy. the mk1 had the best braking performance of its day and still is up there even now. if you want a more pronounced feel then a st185 conversion will give you this or maybe swap for a different master cylinder. i believe a turbo o...

Re: Ferodo high performance brake pads
i did a group buy on these a year or so ago. they are an european numbered pad and are of higher spec than the oem. they are a fast road/race spec. similar to the "good" brakes ferodo offer now. i cant remember the compound but it was NOT standard. this is why the track stars amongst us li...

there are generally two types (these fit nearly all toyota models from our era) one small one large. the mk1b normally has the larger. it really makes no difference i use whatever i can get from my local motor factor. dont pay more than a few quid for one.

Re: Front Valance - how easy is it to repair this myself? [sorted]
i cans see it either. it is probably creased and the paint split if its an up and in movement. these are available new at about £45 a side. you then need the fixing plates which are extra its 7 or 8 10mm bolts to fit/unfit. chances are the ones into the wings will snap off but if you are going for n...

Re: Knocking noise on full lock
my guess is a worn ball joint , worn bushes or steering end. drop links will not just rattle on full lock. as the steering seems a bit vague then any of these still apply. not expensive parts wise.

Re: mk1b rear wheel bearings
any decent motor factor should do them at a reasonable price. car spares at cheshunt are good if you are on the herts side. fitting is a bit of a pain. easier with a press but they can be drifted out with a large hammer. the simplest option is replace the hubs complete. contact jinxy he may want to ...

Re: Modifying pullies
i had an engineer friend of mine do just what you are thinking. he put the pulley on a lathe and took the air con section off. it made a considerable difference to the weight. it does work the bolt tightens on the inner pulley not the outer. its a free mod and an easy one and a rotating pound or two...
