Re: Changing acis activation point??
Very interesting (and roughly the answer I was expecting). Still, I love the noise of the simple alloy pipe

Re: Stud extractor
I had snapped studs on my NA downpipe (to the midpipe) and was actually impressed that a quick buy from halfords sorted me out:

Re: Changing acis activation point??
Ok thanks pal, was thinking of just liberating intake decibels, but don't want to make it slower at all for sure. I've already fitted a k&n cone to the original rubber pipework (just replaced air box with cone) but doesn't really give that intake roar I like so much. You'll do better with noise...

Re: Changing acis activation point??
Probably doable in a number of ways using aftermarket electronics... but there's no point, performance wise. People have done the analysis and it's already at the optimal point. Moving it either way results in less area under the graph. This is different to Honda, who put the S2000's VTEC switchover...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Water/meth injection
unless you have progressive BOOST, then no its not valid. once you hit 1.3bar, it injects the same amount, no matter at 3k rpm or 7k rpm. so no its not the same as fuel injectors. But 1.3bar boost at 3500rpm is only consuming air at half the rate as 1.3bar at 7000rpm. So if you're injecting the sam...

Re: [FINALIZED] Rays TE37 (staggered)
Are the ones pictured the same size & offset as these? No, the wheels in my photos are not the same widths and offsets, hence why I posted side shots rather than anything suggesting flushness. Vinny's will sit closer to flush than mine did. Ah, for a frame of reference, can I ask what fitting y...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Upgrade stock radiator fans?
It's not as simple as "one fan is the aircon fan". If your car originally had aircon, then it will control two fans, not one, and does so in a more sophisticated manner. You could convert it to use a single fan like a non-aircon car (by replacing the rad temp sensor, replacing the aircon E...

Re: YouTube project - Geek of the Road
10 miles on the clock... wow! I think mine had about 12000. I did enjoy the 'stang, but when I then landed in LA to start my 10 day road-trip I opted for something else (cue another video... when I get time to make it!) I was musing whether I'd eventually buy a RHD mustang here in the UK. I guess it...

The beautiful roads of Maui (Hawaii)
So recently I got the opportunity to literally travel around the world and I managed to get some great driving in on my travels. Here's a video I shot in Maui where I had four days with a mustang and some awesome roads... http://shinny.co.uk/gotr/s01e06thumb.jpg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91rol...

So when I said "life got in the way"... I was kind-of on the other side of the world! I got the chance to shoot a couple of videos while there, though. Here's the first:

Re: Are uk 3sge's actually inherently gutless? And what about BEAMS cars?
Map might be slightly different for emissions purposes perhaps (ECU PN is different) but having driven several variations of Rev3/4/5 NA's there really is no noticeable difference. Probably because there's no difference at all. Agreed; the map could be different and result in a reduction of power; ...

Re: Are uk 3sge's actually inherently gutless? And what about BEAMS cars?
none of the UK cars ever made 177hp, 175 was the most for the rev3 NA. Rev 4 and 5 were 168 due to egr valve. This is a much repeated fallacy... EGR valves improve emissions at idle, right? The valve itself is closed above 4000rpm, so the presence of the EGR can't explain a drop in peak power numbe...
